VG Chartz obviously is a reputable source as it is being sourced all over the place - numerous major newspapers, most big gaming websites etc. It is only the GAF posse (of which it is obvious you are one) who have this constant undying aim to discredit us. You know absolutely nothing about how we put data together, so how do you seriously try to assert what we do and where out figures come from?

3. When was the 300k shipped figure as of? The game has likely sold more by now but to be honest if the best example you can give of our accuracy is that we have a game 10% higher than it should be (where does your random 150k figure come from) then we're obviously doing a damn fine job. 330k, 300k whatever - does it really make a difference in the grand scheme of things?

Neogaf is one of the best organized Forums in the internet. They have very strict rules and punish those who break it without fault. It is also THE forum to talk about videogaming, and several game developers and videogame journalists visit it everyday.

Let's be honest, VGChartz is not a reputable sales' estimations source. VGChartz mostly analyses data from news and retail shipments, while it has almost no direct data from retailers.

Example, VGChartz has Zack&Wiki as sold 330k worldwide... that is incorrect, Capcom only has only shipped 300k copies to retailers, and there are still alot of copies being sold by retailers. Zack & Wiki most likely only has around 150k copies sold to Wii owners.


 There is a very big difference between hardware numbers and software numbers.  Attacking the software (which nobody claims is super accurate) to discredit the entire site is basically like saying:

"Well since you would kill a fly buzzing around your face we can logically deduce you would kill a person who annoyed you as well, therefor you must be put to death."  

Its crap logic used only to justify one's position and nothing more.  

 

As for the specifics of Z&W, you could do your argument much credit to site sources for the Capcom release, at least that much would tell us what time period it was for rather than making us guess.   I have no doubt there are some problems with some of the software numbers, I've been watching it for a bit and I know its still a work in progress in a lot of ways.  But citing a single piece of software out of hundreds and thousands is hardly proof of anything except possibly cherry picking.

Thats uncalled for, you should edit your post before a mod does it after banning you.

Shio should be free to express his views and have an open (civil) debate, if that wasn't the case on this site(and it is) then I wouldn't be here. Honestly thats the biggest difference between here and GAF; honest open debate.  They silence any opposition to the "VGC is nothing but guesses" mantra and in doing so paint themselves as unreasonable fanboys to anyone with any sensibility....at least on this subject specifically...I won't go so far as to speak ill of whatever else it is they do there besides bash VGC as I have no first hand experience of it (yet another thing that seperates us from GAF).

Neogaf seems to be a badly made site. VGChartz gets updated alot and everything is neat.

Just goes to show the wide chasm between the intelligence and the maturity of Vgchartz users vs NeoGaf users, doesn't it?
Why waste so much energy bashing this site, there are certainly sites that we here dislike as well, but I don't see us tearing up the place with threads on and on citing how horrible they are, we just ignore them.
God, I wish all internet forums were as reflected and docile as this is, posting and browsing here is a bucket of joy compared to anything else I can think of, on other sites I never even PM'ed anyone or added friends, there seemed to be a vast majority of assholes among the members (Gamespot takes the proverbial cake in this regard).
One thing's for sure; I know I've opted to be a member of a site that is going places instead of down the shitter like many of the others and this is largely because of
A) The entire concept is unique and the site is getting more and more refined.

B) The team is doing a standup job week in and week out.

C) The users (to toot my/our own horn) here are the best I've come across in my 6-7 years of active internet use.

Conclusion; keep up the good work and fuck NeoGaf. They can have their crematorium forums (a term we made in the forum I was a mod in here in Norway where all topics got out of hand and dozens of users were banned daily) for all I care.

4. The someone defends the hardware numbers by saying they are normally "within maybe a few million LTD" lol!! I don't think we've ever had a hardware LTD figure at any point in time that has been more than half a million off other sources. Fact remains that ltd data is as close to accurate as you will ever get. The quarterly shipment comparisons more than support this.

As always the thread is full of very ignorant and very hateful posters who hate to see somebody challenging their core beliefs and doing something different. They find it hard to see how our data is as good as it is month on month and have to accuse us of doing something wrong. There isn't an analyst, prediction firm or anyone else out there who puts out numbers as good as ours - on time, every week and for FREE. Only NPD / Media Create / Enterbrain / GFK / Chart Track produce better data, but they are all professional tracking services who have been around for many years and charge a huge premium for their data. VG Chartz does not exist to compete with them, merely do a similar job on a much smaller and less accurate (although arguably not that less accurate) scale for the general gaming public as opposed to the elite industry figures.

The posts are full of hate and random comments but without even one piece of argument or support for anything they say. I used to be on GAF doing sales figures like I do now until I realised what a bunch of stuck-up, dumb, narrow-minded idiots most of them are and went to start my own site - which is full of intelligent, open-minded and really quite gifted posters in the best part - makes GAF and every other gaming forum look like a bunch of schoolboys. Now VG Chartz is about to leave GAF in its wake and they don't like it.

Jealousy really is a nasty thing.
