skinny, I'm not tense and I do not represent NPD as "theguy" or under any other name. I am a consultant, dammit.

I simply want a certain someone to be exposed for his bullshit (exposure happens on gaf, which is one of the reasons why I feel so much at home here). I was completely unaware of his history and reason for being banned from gaf until this thread broke, so keep it coming. The more some of us know, the better. There's a reason for all of this, which will become clear in time.

NPD is not PO'd that I know of. If they are, they've not told me. All I've done is diligent research of my own based on false stories, manipulated facts and generally immature rumblings from a bunch of hacks.

The tie ratio figures were pulled incorrectly or pulled from thin air, I'm not sure which. As you probably know, you have to look at life to date sales of both hardware and software when determining attach rates. This wasn't done, hence the incorrect ratios.

Current tie ratios (provided by clients but likely spot on)
Wii = 5.2
PS3 = 4.6
360 = 7.5

RESPONSE: Yes, I am a real psycho. This is no secret. Anyone who knows me knows I have a low tolerance for your kind of bullshit. I'm not sure the title of bulldog is warranted but it's been used to describe my personality on more than one occasion. An NPD "top guy"? I like that. I wish I worked full-time for their Games group. Then you'd really be in a world of hurt.

The research industry ... hell, anyone paying you any mind in the gaming industry is aware of a great number of things when it comes to your zite, which is something you should keep in mind, ioi. I won't stop until you clean up your act. Everytime you misrepresent, I'll be there to shed proper light on the subject. This guy has some serious issues.
If I'd behave like this in public while representing the company I work for I'd have some serious problems.

PS2 was very different but it's really the NPD numbers that are odd in that case. They claim that PS2 sales dropped by half weekly from Feb to March for no reason.
Wasn't PS2 discounted to 99$ in February by Target retailers chain ?

I love how Gaf has switched from calling you a fraud (making up data) to calling you a theif (using stolen data). Stolen data is unreliable because you'd never know when the well will dry up; I doubt the site would have lasted this long.



I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Since he seems to deny being D. Riley, I have to point out in the interest of fairness that I have no idea how well-founded starship's "driley" comment is. However, it is clear that theguy is an NPD attack dog even if he's not that particular man and even if his attacking is his own initiative, and it's also clear that theguy likes to sidestep questions about or downplay his association with NPD, which should tell you how dedicated he is to getting the truth out in the open. "In response to ["Are you from NPD?"], if you're a gaffer, why would you care? If you must know, I consult and work with several research organizations, publishers and manufacturers. Want to hire me?"

Also, in regards to his comment "I'll tell you what, if you stop misrepresentin', I'll have no other choice but to back down": I seriously doubt that anything less than the total dissolution of VGC as an organization will stop him from attacking it; and even if it did I'd still expect the ocasional cheap shot.

it's quite childish and selfish. how often any site has been mentioned in NYT? they should be happy cause media will start to respect sites like neogaf or vgchartz as a sources.
