Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Gonna buy a Wii

A few things:

- SMG is very good. Just as I expected.
- Okami is really cool, though hard to get the actions down right. My wife in particular is having a lot of difficulty with the game. We'll see how it goes as we get used to the Wiimote again.
- Wii Play is all sorts of meh. I'm glad I didn't buy it to get a third controller with my old Wii. I doubt it will see much time in my console.
- Wii Sports is still stupid fun, even after logging dozens of hours with it at launch.
- Ugh. My wife found out about Wii Fit. I swore up and down that I wouldn't give Nintendo money for that damned thing but now it appears there is no way out of it.

Overall, I hope I don't get tired of the Wii like I did earlier. I don't think I will because there are several games I want to play for it now. Overall, I still prefer the 360 but the Wii should be a great complimentary system, just like it was before the great game drought of 2007 that turned me away from the system and left it untouched for three months. At least it will never serve as a $600 Blu-ray/DVD player (here's looking at you, PS3).

The system would be a lot better for me if Nintendo didn't intentionally cripple the online system and half-ass the execution so badly.

You do realise your nightmare can actually get worse do you? Have you already imagined the day you step onto the balance board and find yourself enjoying it?

I'm laughing at you, not with you, but it in a good way.

Now you know why I Blame Wii Fit.

Wow, there are others like me that can't get into Metroid Prime!

Okami is an excellent choice, imo. As for NMH, everyone else seems to love it, but I didn't really get into it. Don't get me wrong, it was pretty fun, but I didn't feel compelled to actually finish the game.

I've never seen so many mods posting in one thread O__O

I doubt that will happen. The only time I enjoy a game that casual is when it involves multiple people playing at the same time drunk off their asses (see Sports, Wii and Band, Rock).

Not too many has mentioned Super Paper Mario - it's really a great game - especially if you are into the whole Mario Universe...

Besides that, you could also skip the money for an actual Wii game, and buy for 50 bucks worth of Wii Points - you could probably  get around 10 to 20 of classic games for that amount of points - and for my personal record, playing games like Bubble Bobble, Star Fox, and the good old Mario's and Zelda's again, has been just as fun as the Wii games themselves - not to mentioned the sheer kick of the nostaligia factor...

Just an idea..

I love retro gaming on handhelds but on a 50" HDTV, not so much. I think handhelds are much better suited to that sort of duty.

I've played a bit of SPM. I'll probably give it another whirl in a month or two once I get through the other Wii games I want and GTA IV.

It works best as an internet browser

I actually lol'd at that totally random comment but mrmoney there's no need to troll like that, besides i have 22 wii games, 36 gamecube games and 18 vc games for my wii and it gets played every day for a few hours at least. whereas everyone i know with a ps3 only uses it at weekends as a glorified jukebox thanks to the lack of games on that system.

What is it like being full of crap?  The 20 PS3 games I have laughs at your "no games for the PS3."  I think its time to update your fanboy rhetoric, this argument is getting stale.

Bethesda's Todd Howard "if install base really mattered, we'd all make board games, because there are a lot of tables."

Cut it out. This is the Nintendo forum. The next person that mocks the Wii or brings up the PS3 gets some quiet time in the corner.

the only thing i ahte about not having a wii is missing out on all of those zelda and mario games, but thats not enough to persuade me to let go of nearly 200 pounds
