I don't know much about the general purpose uses for gaming, but when I hear people dumping graphics, physics, A.I., framerate, etc etc onto the SPE's, it seems to me that it's MUCH more accessible for gaming than some people want to accept.

Okay, well, if you can explain to me how an AI algorithm would work that can be done primarily in the SPEs I'll be impressed. In fact, so will the greatest gaming minds of this generation. Tim Sweeney, the engine developer for the Unreal series of engines specifically stated that the SPEs do not lend themselves to AI algorithms. |
I'm unable to argue with you from a programming perspective mainly because my knowledge of computer science probably isn't as deep as yours , but let's disregard everything we know about proggraming and proccessing power for a second.
Using purely the games we have on offer to use as a means of comparing the graphical ability of the PS3 VS the 360 I think you'll find the PS3 wins hands down , all the most visualy stunning games ( Uncharted , Rachet & Clank , GT5:P , MGS4 , Final Fantasy 13, Killzone 2, LBP) have or will apear on the PS3 within the next Year.
Even if the PS3 isn't as capable as the 360 (which I believe isn't the case) it would apear that the "lesse able" console is producing the more aestheticly pleasing games . I challenge you to tell everyone a game that will suprass or even equal anything being produced on the PS3 this year.
