Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Direct Mini has just launched

Welp .... if Curl thinks Nintendo abandoned the Switch BEFORE the direct, after watching that Direct he'll drop Christianity and become atheist

Consensus is that it's way better, but depends on your taste. For instance, I prefer X over the 2 games. What did you like in X that didn't like in 2?

the openness of the game... like heres the game... feel free to explore everywhere in the start of the game but you will get fuck....

Well, it's a coin toss. I think the original gane it's infinitely better than 2, so you should give it a chance.

Also, the game releases next month but I don't have any money, wtf And with the corona crisis it'll be hard to get any job. But I really want that artbook.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

While I wish we got more news on 1st party games, this direct gave us a lot to look forward to. Certainly enough to hold us over till the next big direct, which I assume will be in June despite E3 being delayed. They are probably saving their bigger 1st party titles for that, for one massive blowout.  I could also see a general direct for 1st party games MAYBE coming in late April or early May for announcements, with the "E3" direct in June focusing on gameplay and features, but I find that to be the less likely scenario.  Time will tell.

All in all, pretty good for a mini!  Also, as someone already pointed out, all this ARMs promotion is making me believe an ARMs 2 announcement is on the horizon.

Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-5643-2927-1984

Animal Crossing NH Dream Address: DA-1078-9916-3261

Pretty decent for a Direct Mini, but would've been disastrous for a normal Nintendo Direct. I hope we don't have to wait until E3 for a normal Nintendo Direct, but it's looking that way.
Really weird to announce that a fighter from Arms is coming, but not which one and no reveal trailer. The simple fact that a character from Arms is making it into Smash all but confirms we'll get Arms 2 on Switch or the Switch's successor.
With how many games I want to play right now, I can't justify spending $60 on Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition. I already beat the main story on Wii.
We'll probably have to wait until E3 for the big holiday title. It's so up in the air. It could be Super Mario Odyssey 2, Mario Kart 9, a 2D Mario, or maybe even Breath of the Wild 2. I do feel like Breath of the Wild 2 will launch March of next year. But who knows?

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 151 million (was 73, then 96, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 57 million (was 60 million, then 67 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Big question now is if they will wait til e3 for the next direct or if one will come in April. Considering Xenoblade is at the end of May they could get away with waiting for e3 time imo

It wasn't really a mini direct, it was 28 minutes long. Was just an excuse to keep expectations in check which, fair enough I guess? The mini direct in 2018 actually seems better and that was half the length (Mario Aces announcement, Donkey Kong and Hyrule Warriors port, Mario + Rabbids DLC, SMO Baloon update)

Good stuff. Not great, but good.

I don't think i'll be getting XC definitive edition. I loved the first game but playing it again for 200+ hours for just a nex proloque is too much time. There are other great games to play for the first time.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

Glad to have gotten something from Nintendo.    I think they planned a full Direct originally and then it had to be downgraded because of the pandemic.  All the release dates looked like May or sooner.  Although Bravely Default 2 had no date, so it may come later.  Even at the beginning they made it clear that release dates are uncertain at this point.

Not the blowout that I think people were expecting, which is maybe why they stealth dropped it to taper expectations. But some nice stuff. I was on the fence with Xenoblade since I've already played through it at least a couple of times, but the added content will probably get me to purchase. New modes for Ring Fit seem fun, esp since I can't go to the gym. The mode that focusses just on running is something I wanted.

I'm excited that an Arms Rep will be the next Smash fighter. In addition to the fact that I just love Arms, I was also hoping for more Nintendo characters in the DLC, so hopefully this indicates that they'll focus more on that for pack 2.

I'm actually kind of excited for Club House games. Really solid Wiisportish title. Would be nice if I had it now while I'm stuck indoors.

I might take xenoblade.... i love xbcx... didnt like xb2 that much though... how is the original game compare to xenoblade chronicles x

Xenoblade is much more similar to 2 than X.  In terms of structure it's pretty similar, but IMO it is much stronger in terms of characters and story.
