Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Staring into the abyss of a world where Nintendo has no games scheduled for release. Edit: The Time of Darkness Has Arrived

Why are you guys clinging to the hope that Nintendo will still release some AAA game this year? It's almost August lol... even the most surprising games are announced 6 months before release date. So highly unlikely.

I mean, we've had a continuous major global pandemic for most of the past 40 years with HIV/AIDS which killed millions every year at its peak.  So pretty much any console released after 1979 or so would qualify.

Not a particularly helpful answer, but a correct one.

HIV/AIDS is a sexually transmitted disease that spreads through three primary means. 1) Sexual conduct - (Unprotected sex, oral sex) 2) Blood (Transfusions, needles, syrunges.) 3) Mother-to-child (During pregnancy or Breast-feeding).

It's much more difficult to contract HIV/AIDS than to contract Covid and the solution to preventing HIV/AIDS is even more simple and easier than wearing a mask... Wear a fucking condom.

I've never heard of an HIV/AIDS infected person who got the disease from having another infected person who wasn't wearing a mask cough or sneeze on them, or drinking from the same glass, or just plain breathing the same air as them like with COVID. It's not the fucking flu.

The United States gets about 1.7 - 2 million new cases of HIV/AIDS per year. The first reported COVID-19 cases in the United States was back in March. We're in late July and we just passed 4 million! That's 4 million cases in just 4 1/2 months!

2020 really feels like a Wii U year for Nintendo. Maybe a little better. Hopefully that changes soon.

So far I'd say Switch's 2020 is actually tracking to be worse than most years of the Wii U. It certainly doesn't look like it'll manage to match Wii U's 2014 or 2015 in terms of worthwhile new releases.

According to Emily Rogers, a leaker who's been extremely reliable, stated earlier this year that Nintendo's 2020 will be comparable to Nintendo's 2017 which is quite a bold statement to state, so maybe there's still hope.

However, if Emily rogers' statement is true Nintendo needs to have a God-Like 2nd Half to make up for the underwhelming 1st Half it's been so far.

I kinda believe Emily Rogers tho because I remember during the NX rumor days she was spot on with nearly every rumor she put out about the Switch(NX). She also stated this year that "it's a good year to be a plumber" which directly relates to Eurogamer and Venture Beat's leaks of Mario remasters and a 3D world port coming this year.

So I still believe Nintendo can redeem itself for the rest of 2020.

At the very least we can assume 3D world and 3D Mario collection are happening. What else Nintendo has is anyone guess

Didn't Emily Rogers think that the Switch would release at $250, believe in Splatoon "Refresh" (a remaster) and not Splatoon 2, and also believe that Splatoon Refresh and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe would release day one with the system, with BOTW being a later title? Lol.

The phrase "Nintendo has had a disappointing year so far" is really code for "I personally don't like Animal Crossing".

Hardly.  I don't think everyone who said 2018 was disappointing wasn't into Smash.  It's never particularly good to hang onto one game for a full year.  Even the people that like that one game will want more.

2017 and 2019 considered good years because they had a solid array of good games.  2019 didn't even have a particularly big hitter as far as the core gamer demographics go, but most were happy with the selection.

Does this mean that you do like Animal Crossing?  Or is this another one of those posts without a point?

Also you are comparing 7 months of 2020 to a full year of 2018 or 2019 which is not a fair comparison.
