Which next-gen console will be more powerful

PS5 4 $3,092.90 16.00%

Series X 21 $14,981.51 84.00%

Totals: 25 $18,074.41
Game closed: 03/15/2020

I feel like Xbox is gonna hold the power advantage. I guess we'll see.

Crazy how fast the last 7 years went by. The generation still feels pretty new to me.

This is an easy bet for me. Sony wants to appeal to as many consumers as possible so an appealing price point is necessary. So unless Sony wants to take a hell of a loss, I think their hardware will be weaker but cost $100 less than SX which I'm guessing is no less than $550 more likely to be $600. Microsoft has the funds to eat a substantial loss, and still be profitable with their software avenues including Games Pass and you know...Windows.

So I'd be surprised if tomorrow PS5 is much stronger than SX because either result is potentially dangerous for Sony.

Absolute rubbish.

Resolution and pixel density is determined by a range of factors like visual acuity of the individual (Eyesight for example can exceed 20/20), display size and how far away an individual is distanced from the display.

Plus higher resolutions does tend to resolve micro details in various assets better as well.

This is a rough guide, note: It does not take into account visual acuity of the individual, so there is some additional variance not accounted for.

He's completely overblowing it, but he has a point. I honestly can't tell the difference between 4K and 1080p on anything less than a 55 inch TV. I think my 1440p IPS, HDR, 27 inch monitor looks better than most 4K TVs. Especially when I'm running games at 80-100 FPS. I'm sure you've seen the video below already, but it just goes to show that FPS is way more important than resolution.

Hence the chart I provided.

Resolution is often a case of "your mileage may vary."

I play on  42 inch TV, and 720p still looks fine to me, with the difference between 720p and 1080p being pretty negligible, and I have 20/20 vision.

Well... You can have better than 20/20 vision...

Research shows Video games  help make you smarter, so why am I an idiot

well I bet 945.90 on Sony because I'm a high roller but I wish there were proper odds for that bet.

I apologise for deceiving you I'm really not a high roller and the Vg Dollars was my rent money, so  if I lose look for me at derpysquirtle64's  mansion btw  they sleep on the sofa I get the master bedroom.

If it's only PS5, then XBSX ends up more powerful overall.
If there's a base and pro model, PS5P ends up the most powerful overall.

The chart didn't load for me. Wasn't on my main computer. I see it now. The Linus video tends to disagree with the chart though. And my personal experience does as well. But you did say it was a rough estimate so, oh well. But what's the source of the info on the chart?

Edit: Also, I really don't think you've addressed the FPS beats resolution argument.

True, but most adults have worse.

Series X, but I’m sure PS5 will be close enough.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I don't bet unless I'm over 90% sure I'll win.

But Xbox would be very, very foolish to let Sony get the power advantage yet again. Much of the narrative this generation was established early on as "PS4 does it better" due to the power gap.

I’d rather have the defining narrative be “exclusives matter more” then “PS5 does it better”. Classic fallback narrative and it leaves Xbox out of a negative spotlight.
