I see Konami collaborating but not selling the rights. They are a dead company if they do that.
Either way it looks like it’ll be years before anything materializes to the public.

I'm not buying it, even though I want to. Even though that jack of all trades website doesn't seem like a reputable source and believing anything about it right now would be unwise, it could make a sliver of sense with Sony whipping out their checkbook as of late. It's a matter if Konami wants to revive a franchise such as MGS off someone else's penny.
It's healthy to speculate, but I wouldn't put my money on this.
Konami won't sell their strongest game ips. For it to happen they would have to be in serious financial problems. But they are well on the green. You can expect collaboration deals where Sony helps funding the development in exchange of exclusivity while Konami remains the owner of the ips.
And yes, I would rather have a franchise like Castlevania stay dead as it is, than give it to a company that I don't trust that they'll make Castlevania that captures what makes the series so special to me.

Are you literary comparing buying a studio to whoring out IPs for exclusivity?
I am sure you know the difference between the two.

Yes sure, and on the rumors of Sony acquiring one studio or another there were the same type of response that it would trigger MS to buy a lot of studios.

Id agree that same can be said with MS buying studios aswell.
However buying Studios to give a second wind because they are struggling or small to buying already established and successful studios making fortunes are also very different appoaches.
Honestly look who MS brought,
Ninja Threoy (Struggling)
Obsidian (Struggling)
Double Fine (Small Indie and Struggling)
Playground Games (Were unoffical 1st party)
Undead Labs (Were unofficial 1st party)
Compulsion (Small Indie)
Mojang (Small Indie)
InXile (Small Indie)
Etc.

CHACHING PULL THE LEVER! CHACHING!
yeah, I think virtually anyone would treat Castlevania, MGS, and Silent Hill better than Konami.
My Console Library:
PS5, Switch, XSX
PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360
3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android
I hope Microsoft counters and buys out Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest or Persona. Or maybe all three.
