Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony cancelling PAX East 2020 attendance due to coronavirus concerns

Given how little Boston is affected (as in almost nobody), I’m honestly feel this is just Sony saving some money.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I suppose people will say "PAX East is now dead because Sony won't be there".

Makes you wonder what is going on at Sony. The rumored PS5 reveal event this month didn't happen, they confirmed they won't be at E3, and now they are cancelling their PAX East plans as well, using what seems like an excuse rather than a legitimate concern.

Don't be so worry about Sony like that .

Not buying it. SONY pulled out for other reasons

This is odd, due to the corona virus?? Seriously?

So Sony is Doomed then?

Not surprised, a lot of events are being cancelled or restricted to few people. For example, the Mobile World Congress which was taking place in Barcelona, Spain, was cancelled due to fears of this virus, and that´s a very high profile event. The Tokyo Marathon cancelled mass participation and is now restricted only to elite athletes, a technology event called Cisco Live in Melbourne, Australia was also cancelled, among others.

At the very least, I can see the Olympics being severely overshadowed by this thing.

Honestly people should do whatever they think is safe until the threat is gone. I'm not going to judge a company for trying to do, in its mind, the responsible thing for its employees. Bravo to Sony for the bravery to cancel something like this, knowing it will upset fans, just for the safety of the people that would have gone!

People matter more than games.

Yeah, I would rather be safe than sorry. I hope the coronavirus doesn't spread out even further than it already has right now, especially since it's still really bad at China right now.
