Is normie an insult

Yes 16 55.17%

No 13 44.83%

Total:29

Never heard of that word being used. It sounds like a word someone would use because they are too pussy to call someone a sheep.

I'm insulted by such a lame attempt of using the word normie as an insult.

Yes, its an insult for people who think there's any value in the status quo, used often by progressives who think society needs to be radically altered because there's not sufficient equality of outcome between people

For example, someone who believes women get paid 77 cents on every dollar a man earns may call someone who does not believe this a "normie", since from that first person's perspective, the latter's ignorance is holding society back from a state where women will be paid 100 cents to every dollar a man earns.

IMO it's the sheep that believe the pay gap is because of discrimination, if women want equal outcome then they have to work the same hours in the same industries but of course that's hard work and the feminists want equal outcome for less work in less demanding jobs.

Its a pejorative term, so yes, its a insult. A tame one tho.

It's basically the millennial way of calling somebody a conformist, which, yeah, I think qualifies an an insult. It's also something I've never been called for some odd reason.

Quiet normie.

Women work more hours than men do. They just don't get paid for all of them. Women do the vast majority of the world's unpaid (and, as we see above plainly, unappreciated) work.

Perhaps if men chose to participate equally in domestic chores (and employers couldn't legally use maternity leave time as an excuse to cut off pay for long periods in this country), things would be different. Perhaps under such circumstances, a larger number of women would feel at liberty to pursue careers in a more dedicated way. Either that or the state should start paying women for domestic work since they do more than two-thirds of it even in developed countries.

Also, why do so many threads have to feature a debate about the supposed evils of women and feminism even when it clearly has nothing to do with the subject at hand?

I think the only time I've come across it is when people on the spectrum refer to neurotypicals as "normies".

Why should women have to work the same hours or dangerous jobs for the same pay, when they have been oppressed for millenia?

This is very far off topic, could you talk about this somewhere else, please.

Are you referring to stuff like washing clothes and cooking food for themselves to eat? If so are you saying that you think people should be paid for maintaining the space the live in and preparing their own food?

I feel like it is something I rarely see used seriously as an insult. It is usually handled as a joke when someone ironically wants to defend liking something weird, or jokingly wants to criticize something they find blase.

That said, it certainly can be used as an insult, generally along the same lines as "basic", saying that someone is uninteresting and part of the flock.

Also, I have never seen the word used in a political context. The fact that some people have somehow managed to turn this into a debate about the wage gap is astounding.
