Yes, and the N64 would also have "long" loading times which is why they also opted for cartridges. Just keep that in mind, please.

The funniest thing is that FFVII barely has any loading on PS1.

As long as you call the 6-7 seconds of a battle scene initiation barely  any loading time then I agree. It's even up to 15 seconds on FF8.

The decision of going for a cartridge system was not based on one game.

I think Ocarina of Time's bosses were all memorable, but that was mostly due to the fact that it was the first time we'd really experienced boss fights like that, assuming you played it when it came out.

The skeleton dragon fight with the spinner was awesome.  I only vaguely remember the others.  Maybe I just have to replay TP.  It's been a while.

Even removed from the novelty of the time I think Ocarina's bosses are just pretty awesome; a serpentine dragon with a flowing mane of fire, a creepy one-eyed parasitic arachnid, A huge volcanic dinosaur...

The designs are cool.  I just think that the actual mechanics are pretty basic.

I have seen the future : every Nintendo players will buy a PS4 and play Final Fantasy VII Remake, they will have a revelation and scream : Best Game Ever !

I can't agree with that. Waiting for PC release.

I pre-ordered it for my PS4 Pro.

Then way later I will buy it on PC too (Or PS5 I don't know)

Ocarina had some great bosses. My favorite boss of the N64-era, by far, was "Goht", the snowpeak temple boss. Since you kept resetting the time in Majora's Mask, you were able to re-fight bosses multiple times, and I remember fighting this boss over and over again. Rolling around the arena in goron form was so satisfying.

OoT is overall a better game in my opinion, and much more epic given there are so many more dungeons (and therefore, bosses). Yeah, I understand quality over quantity, etcetera, but Majora's Mask was created in one year by a smaller team than OoT (just did a quick Google search), and if they were able to create that game in one year, imagine if they spent two years on it and doubled the dungeon count.

As for TP, I actually replayed it pretty recently (within a year or two), and other than BotW, TP is probably the largest Zelda game ever. I can understand why people love it so much. My only complaints with TP are the size of the overworld and the part of the quest where you need to search the world for fragments (can't remember what it was I had to search for). Otherwise TP is another excellent Zelda game. Even though I played it recently, I can say the bosses don't stick out in my mind, but that doesn't mean they weren't fun. I'm sure if I looked each one up I would immediately recall them. The spinner boss is certainly one that I remember, but I remember being frustrated more than anything. The final fight with Ganondorf was actually pretty tough, and I almost died even with several bottles. He hits hard and was difficult to figure out what I was supposed to be doing.

Nope. It’s not even 6-7 seconds. In fact, it’s barely longer than the black screen you’d get in-between locations in the SNES FF games.

Loading time is from the moment the screen distorts to the moment all models are visible on the battlefield.

Screen distorts -> black screen -> battle arena is loaded -> enemy models are loaded -> player characters are loaded.

Everything in that scene is not just for show.

Same as in Ocarina of Time when the screen fades to white while moving from one map to another one. It's done to load the data in.

You are simply dishonest and trying to make it look worse than it is.

Just going to insult me instead of providing a counter argument....

The counter argument is the video. The loading is hardly an issue, and certainly not as long as you claim. In fact, it’s hardly longer than what was found in the SNES FF games. The black fade up to the moment you can issue commands is barely anything to write about. Certain games on the PS1 had loading issues. Sure. But the fact that Squaresoft managed to make their games with minimal loadings makes the cartridge vs CD loading argument silly in this comparison.

Again , you are trying to make this look like a bigger deal than it was. Hence me calling your comments dishonest.

All I know is, loading or not, I had to wait from the moment the screen distortion started to the moment the menu popped up to do anything.  To me, it is all the same waiting regardless of the supposed cause.

But lets be real here...it was loading.  No dev in their right mind would make waiting a design choice...

Fuck.........

(But really, those battles in FF7 were loading during the battle transitions.  Masking load times has been a common practice for years.)
