But you were the first one to quote IGN to make your point earlier...hypocritical it seems. I just showing you, in 1998 no one cared about the game running at 24 fps, no one  had nothing but positive stuff to say about the controls. The frame rate  wasn't the issue you are trying so hard to make it be.  I was never bothered by the issue apparently 99 percent of the others weren't either. Ever played Legacy of Darkness? Play that game on Hi res, and you will experience  real Framerate issues.

Hypocritical? Wtf? I quoted Gamefan, not IGN, to make a point about your stupid double standard.

What is it in your head that can’t understand that I am not talking for anyone other than for myself!

You keep telling me that others don’t see it the way I do. Why the actual fuck should I care what others think? I think for myself and those aspects of the game bothered me. I don’t care if others weren’t bothered by them or overlooked them.

I don’t need them to formulate my own view based on my own standards and expectations. You are free to do the same.

Finally. You have come to the understanding that these flaws you speak of, are only your opinion and agree that the majority doesn't see it that way. In that case, I am cool with that. You just don't like Ocarina. I have doubts that you played the game back in 1998, but I am free to think what ever I want.

So anyone who hates Ocarina of Time must not have played it at launch? Well, bucko, I did play it at launch and all I thought at the time was 'this is just a rehash of A Link to the Past...except the graphics are uglier (but 3D now!), the controls are shite, and NaVi is the worst fucking assistant of all time."

So yeah, it's crazy, but some people just don't like certain games. Even back then I tended to not like a whole lot of N64/PS1 games because even back then I knew in my heart that 3D gaming wasn't as refined as 2D gaming; we had the technology to do 3D but not to do it well. I can still play Link to the Past and Super Mario World any time, but any time I try to pick up Mario 64 or Ocarina of Time, I just get frustrated and give up way too quickly. Because 3D games from that era didn't age well. that's just the reality of the situation. However, a LOT of people started their gaming journey in the N64/PS1 days (that's when gaming got HUGE and mainstream), so a lot of people have nostalgia for that. I'm okay with that, but like Egoraptor "isn't it time we take a step back and offer critical analysis without nostalgia?"

I don’t dislike OoT. I dislike aspects of it.

OoT is among the top of my list of games I wish to be remade (on home console) with modern gaming standards.

And I was 17 when the game came out and I first played it on the day of its release in North America. Same goes for FF VII, and most notable games from that era and the gen before it (arcade games included).

It’s quite telling that you’d think I didn’t play the game back then because I found flaws in it. But you are free to believe what you will.

Telling facts about games that are mildly negative is not hating, most of you are adults and should be able to handle some criticism about your favorite game.
Being so defensive and talking past eachother to ridiculize those with the other opinion and truths just because it is a negative is really childish,no game is perfect.

No game is perfect?  Clearly, someone has never played Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don't Dry.

Ocarina. The entire Zelda franchise as a whole is just better than FF #sorrynotsorry

An interesting take, because early Final Fantasy is outstanding (Everything from IV to XII was impeccable) but the franchise has been wavering. Early Zelda (outside of Link to the Past) was pretty hit or miss and kinda crap/outdated, but Breath of the Wild is EASILY the best Zelda game, overall.

Just an interesting turn, in my opinion.

Hmmmmm, I find your take equally interesting. Other than Zelda II, which early Zelda games were hit/miss/crap??? The series had TLOZ, LTTP, LA, OoT, MM, all in a row if you exclude Zelda II.

Zelda is the most consistently great series there is. Even Zelda 2 has a certain charm. I don't think there is any console version that has ever missed.

This thread just proved to me why a game like breath of the wild got perfect scores left and right and reviews leavind any Flaw it had because it have a shit ton of them and its FAR from a perfect game. Zelda is One of those franshises that people is incapable of being objective and just talk about it without the fanboy blindfold. Rockstar games get this too from reviewers.
When people say oot didnt aged poorly are full of shit and shit frame rate is a Flaw the game had, 20 FPS is terrible , it was terrible in the past and Will always BE terrible , period.

Very few reviewers would say that a perfect score indicates a perfect game as I don't think it would be possible to create a game that literally could not be improved on.  Games are generally judged on a sliding scale that is generally based on what is possible and available at the time.  For me, and apparently lots of others, BOTW is head and shoulders above most modern games, hence the score.

And I think Ocarina of time aged pretty well.  A better frame rate would obviously be better, but it's not a significant enough issue that I can't enjoy the game today.  Moreover though, this is a comparison between two games of the same era.  And, I believe that FFVII ran at like 15 FPS during battles.  So, framerate is hardly a winning argument.

I actually like Zelda II. Yes, it is different but i still enjoyed playing it.
