Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Witcher 3 UPDATE brings cross-save and graphic options on Switch

You could overclock it but that would bring heat dissipation issues. if they make a tv only version with a better cooling solution they could. You dont want your console overheating cause heat could damage it.

That's a good point. If they ever make a TV only unit they should let those specs work at full potential to get better performance and resolutions.

Anyhow, interesting video. It shows there are some options that could be implemented without impacting performance much if at all. Like visual tweaks so its less blurry.

We also see the CPU in Switch is very capable. Very impressive to see it can actually hit 60 fps when GPU bottleneck is reduced.

This is something I'd be much more interested in seeing than a "Switch Pro"; they've already made a revision that's portable only, it would make sense to provide the flip side of the coin, plus without the screen or battery they could price it even cheaper than the Lite.

As far as Witcher 3 goes, I am interested to see what Saber will deliver with the new update they're hyping up. Perhaps they'll make some of these sort of options available? Or perhaps a performance boost like we saw with the Switch versions of Doom and Wolfenstein II post-launch.

Right, they could probably get it down to $149. Given it will be some sort of microconsole with the Joycon.

And unlike the Vita/Playstation TV, it would actually be compatible with virtually all games.

Exactly; that's the version I'd go for if I didn't already have the regular Switch as I don't care at all for portable play.

The standard hybrid model would still sell the most as it offers the complete package, but I reckon Nintendo could eke out a decent profit from a cheap Switch TV. You could make it really small too with the new 16nm process and no screen/battery.

Around the Network

I have a hacked switch so it's something worth considering for me.

I myself would also not risk bricking a Switch for an upgrade in graphics that I probably won’t even notice.

I’d wait for an updated Switch 2 with a significant upgrade to performance.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

As someone who finds the technical side of graphics fascinating from an academic point of view, this is indeed really cool even if I personally wouldn't risk my hardware for it.

Then again I'm one of those folks who sees no need whatsoever for a more powerful mid-gen Switch and is completely satisfied with the Switch's current power level.

Updated the OP with the game update news

An update seems to have started rolling out, players in Korea are allegedly able to download version 3.6. The update appears to be as significant as was hinted at. Saves now have compatibility with the PC version, meaning you can progress through the Switch edition and continue on where you left off on Steam (and supposedly GOG) and vice versa. Additionally, it looks like several graphics options can be tinkered with.

Based on the reddit post, there are eight new graphic FX options available:

Motion blur
Blur effect
* Bloom
* Sharpen
* Depth of Field
* Depth of Field for Cut-scenes
* Chromatic Aberration
* Water Quality
* Foliage Visibility Range
* Anti-Aliasing

And following are two screenshots comparing Sharpen OFF vs MAX.

Images do not work. Sharing savefiles with Steam and GOG is amazing though!
