"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Booooooo Smash Bros!!! Now before you want to rip on me (and that I have your attention).....

...I only say this because they always forcefully trying to make Smash games competitive by only having 1 vs 1. This is a brawl fighting game and is meant to be played with more players, not limiting to 2 players at a time. Let's see how skilled they really are when they have 7 other people against them, that's what I want to see!!! (It's like nobody wants to watch a WWE Royal Rumble match with wrestlers going 1 vs 1 while the others wrestlers just wait and watch)

I have Smash Ultimate and I love it, but I find the magic and fun in the game is not there when I'm only playing against 1 other person.

Also I'm pretty excited to see MvC2 back!

The MvC2 tournament will be with 8 “champions” only. There are 4 Winners of previous EVO tournaments confirmed:

Sandford Kelly
Justin Wong
IFC Yipes
Duc Do

The other 4 players will be selected from tournaments or “other ways”.

I suppose players like Khaos (the best MvC2 player at the moment), will be there. So there’s a high probability he will be the champion.

Interesting that no NetherRealm game will be at EVO but hey it is what it is.

Is this Satire? Smash is the largest 1v1 competitive fighting game out there by entrants and viewership.  Nobody is forcing it to be competitive that is just how many people enjoy the game.

Sad to see no NRS game this year as I really enjoyed MK 11 last year.  I feel like this will also likely be DBFZ's last year to be replaced by the new guilty gear next year.

Would have preferred MVC2 to be a full on tournament tbh.

At bolded:  That's the rules that EVO/other tournaments put in place it at but do you have serious numbers if majority of Smash owners play 1v1 or do majority actually play with more players? I'm honestly very curious because outside the tournament scene every Smash player I play with all enjoy playing with tons of people and never 1v1.

You couldn't actually provide your own input to my comment huh?  So you're just being salty in general I assume? That's unfortunate,  I tried to put a comment that could entice others and to spark a debate to help kill time at work (it's what I like to do time to time) but guess it failed this time.  Work's over now so thanks for "debating" back? xD

Would have liked to have seen some Killer Instinct.

Dragon Ball FighterZ has my interest though.

It's meant to be played by however many people want to play it at the time.  At a certain point it becomes too chaotic for anyone to employ much real strategy.

To go with the wrestling analogy, Royal Rumble is a fun match to watch.  But generally that's not how champions are determined.
