You sure do post a lot of threads about race/racism... Why this fascination? It seems that the preoccupation with race is kind of a negative thing and people should focus on what they have in common instead.

People calling each other niggers doesn't really serve any purpose... I believe some Black people started calling each other that to try to take some of the hurtfulness and negativity out of that word.. and now they have pretty much succeeded and you can hear the word all over music and movies.. so now would be a good time to stop using it for that reason.. or any reason.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I was about to make that comment on the other thread about minorities being proud of their country. I feel almost like he's fishing for responses. I'm not sure if it's for the ones validating how he feels about racism, or proof that most people aren't racist though.

I don't think anyone should be allowed to use it. It's like if all Jewish people called each other "Dirty Filthy Jews" like the Nazi's did. Sounds pretty Damn stupid to me!

or calling themselves "kikes" (sorry about the likely mis-spelling, and for using it!)

but on topic. Either everyone should be allowed to use the dreaded "N" word...or nobody should, including blacks. Its not right that they can say it, but we can't. Thats like saying whites can only say "fuck" and blacks can't.

Plus I think black people draw the racism card too much/early. If someone calls me a cracker (I'm white, obviously) I don't get offended...I laugh in their face because its a stupid insult.

No one should be allowed to say the N word. But what also object to is when I'm just walking to the shop or something I will have the word "milky", "honky", "whiteboy" etc... shouted at me, I haven't done anything and I have never been racist. I think people forget sometimes that racism is a two way street.

I dunno where i stand on this situation, i do think that it simply segragates races more when you allow one race to say a word but not others, but banning a word altogether simply knocks free speach down another notch.

The way to avoid taking offense is patience and tolerence.  If one insults you don't respond, be nice.  I have African friends from Kenya they behave more like white people in america than African American.  Gangster culture makes anyone look bad.  Do you think beating women stealing and drugs are cool.  If so you need help.

Love is whats most important.

I don't see the big deal. The word's 'meaning' has changed from ignorant to derogatory term for blacks to brother/friend. Just like gay changed from happy to homo.

I think the whole pc crap should be thrown out. It all depends on context.

i use the "N" word all the time!! you know... Nice!!!
