Forums - Sales Discussion - Famitsu Sales: W3, 2020 (Jan 03 - Jan 19)

Jesust Christ. If Switch 2020 outdoes Switch 2019, that would be pretty insane to me.

I have always had my doubts about the "legs" of the Switch itself, but I suppose that in Japan it may be different. If you look at other regions, market share is not as one-sided. These Week 3 sales show that the Switch is accounting for 93% of the hardware sales market right now. I'd like to hear from someone who lives there about the gaming scene, because from the looks of these sales numbers, the Switch is over-represented compared to the rest of the world.

Not really surprising though, TMS: FE is an incredibly undesirable game. From a glance, anybody who doesn't have any interest in idol culture at all is completely put off.

I love both FE and dungeon crawling RPGs (never have played an SMT game though tbh) but I wouldn't be caught dead playing TMS no matter how good its word of mouth is. I can't stand it's aesthetic and weeby idol focus and it seems I'm not alone.

I'm honestly surprised that it managed to chart above 15k. I don't expect it to ever cross 750k LT across the Wii U and Switch versions either.

I have literally no knowledge or interest in Idol Culture but I wouldn't mind playing the game. Oh well.

Ewwww, that's sooooo weeby.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Oh damn what a shame. Im still hoping the entire collection of Wii U games still ports over to Switch.

Yeah, still waiting for NES REmix for that matter.

Pokemon Sword/Shield passes Splatoon 2 at retail this week.

So it is now the second best selling Switch game in Japan. How long until it passes Smash to become #1?

I expect good days ahead for the Switch.

WiiU - 23.8k
Switch - 18.8k

Well... that's surprising. Considering how poorly the original performed I was expecting the Switch release to do a lot better. I guess the WiiU wasn't the reason the game flopped after all.

Nah, it failed cos it's a kinda crappy, unappealing game, which is why it will sell poorly on the Switch too, despite almost everything selling well on the platform.

My brother played through it on Wii U and it was extremely cringey.

Good opening for Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV.

Cringey, maybe, unappealing, yeah probably, but it isn’t a crappy game.

Eh, I'd say it definitely is but opinions are subjective and thus will of course vary.
