Take this for a gain of salt rumour

A leak on what might be the consumer model of the PS5 design.

Ok I know that I will pass for VGC's grammar nazi but I think you meant to say "Take this rumor with a grain of salt". not for a grain and certainly not for a "gain", that literally means nothing.

Sorry, these little things bother me, it's because of my OCD.

lol

Looks more like a ps4 or pro artwork than anything. Looks too similar to the ps4. The bottom layer is simply an odd shape.

I think it could just be a failed prototype.

looks like a probable "PS5 slim"

Yeah OCD can be a b***h.

But people just might get salty if this is true,so it might end up with a gain of salt ! ;)

I don't care as long as it runs well. It does look too thin for what specs we know of though. The PS5 is gonna have to be at least as big as the PS4 Pro, I'm thinking.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 151 million (was 73, then 96, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 57 million (was 60 million, then 67 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

Technically that would be OCPD, not OCD. OCD, Obsessive compulsive disorder, is a more serious disorder that includes people compulsively washing their hands or checking that their stove is off or doors are locked, among other examples. OCPD, Obsessive compulsive personality disorder, is the one where people get obsessed with perfectionism and neatness, such as perfect grammar.

Honestly, it is the same type of nervous feeling those share.

Faker than those fake NX controllers and the blurry cafe console pics Phones have insanely hi-rez pictures but make it blurry and suddenly it's a "leak" This is too thin. It has a lot of wasted space. Consoles waste as little space on outrageous designs as possible since Wii U launched. Then PS4 and Xbox. They don't make them look all that distinct anymore and never will again. They want them to blend in and be forgotten under the TV. This is some shit render or some shit 3D print job. I doubt Sony only goes 2 USB ports again.

You say all that while MS are releasing this..

Also the rumoured image doesn't show all sides, could be more USB Ports on the back or side.

It's a PC tower and it's not even an outrageous design. (not uncommon for people to have a PC tower next to a TV at times anyway). Not to mention people have electronics of that size with sound bars and recievers for sound systems.  MS isn't wasting space. They packed the thing with high-end specs, that takes up more space. As time goe son it sill get smaller. MS has a history of larger hardware not because they want to be wild and crazy. Just they put a lot in. Xbox Sex still looks like a box meant to go under the TV and blend in with a very simple look. These so-called "leaked photos" of the actual console. Never are except for the 2005 pic of the kid playing a grey Xbox 360 dev kit on the carpet. But guess what. It wasn't a blurry pic trying to make it seem more legit. It was crystal clear. Blurry pics are fake. If it looks too stupid like this fake ass PS5 then it is too stupid to be true. Never been wrong on these. I remember people arguing with me when I pointed out online of the non-moving thumbsticks on the NX controller. How one of them looked like a render. People argued with me. Here we are again. It's fake. It's as real as the Death Drive MK II console.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

I prefer just a smaller version of the devkit, which is what I think we will get. I do like this take on the devkit design, even if he went nuts on the ports.

That’s almost as silly as the V-shaped thing.

The V shaped thing makes more sense, imo.

Tip of the V, is the "heat point", and the V are cooling fins, and it draws in air to pass along those fins.
Usage of heatpipes could spread it down those. It also allows for great ventilation, along those cooling fins.

Obviously the V design is because of the roman numeral for 5 = V.  Playstation 5 thus the V shape.

Theres a style & design choice around it, while still being heavily focused on cooling.
The OP picture, depicts some tiny case that looks barely bigger than a PS4 slim, how is that gonna cool a PS5?

Basically Xbox series X design is around a gigantic Cooling Fan.
Push tons of air = better cooling.

While the PS5 V design, is about surface area + more passive cooling effects by opening up alot of vents.
Tons of surface area = better cooling.

Both are clearly designed around being able to deal with more "heat" than previous designs of consoles.

This is true of course, I was joking from an esthetical perspective though.

The V-shaped thing is a DEV-KIT, why can't people understand what that implies?

A Dev-kit does NOT need to look sexy or good, it's a professional piece of hardware for people to work on. Looks are irrelevant in that context.

Yet people lose their minds on the internet, and go: "OMG if that's what the final product is going to look like, it's the end of the world..."

No lady, no sir, when is a Dev-kit ever the same as the final product? It never is, obviously. So why are people talking about a working piece of hardware as if it were the actual retail thing?

I know the V-shape is a devkit. You can relax.
