Ok so i just finished looking at both games sales on vgchartz and noticed you got both numbers from vgchartz too. You should have said botw 16.15m as of 30th of september 2019 and spider man 13.2m as of 30th of july 2019. Spider man 2 months behind in sales and with the price cut and bundle during the holidays it should be very close to botw worldwide

Did you see Spider-Man listed on any NPD, Euro or WW sales chart during that time? No.
Did you see Breath of the Wild listed on any NPD, Euro or WW sales chart during that time?  Every single one of them.

Sold 13.2m in less than a year. Bundle games like you said arent counted so its no surprise its not on the list. Wouldnt surprise me if it sold at least another 3m since August of last year because of bundle and price cut

The primary Spider-Man bundle came out in July 2018 alongside the game itself with a second one just following it. And both primary bundles have long since been discontinued. And the game received it's first price cuts in Nov 2018 and made it a permanent price cut in Feb 2019.

It sold 9 million by Nov 2018.  Then 13.2 million by August 2019.  There is no way in hell it sold nearly 20% of it's total unit sales in the past 4 months when it had holiday 2018 and 8 months of 2019 to sell 4 million units.

What bundle in july 2018? The game released in september of 2018. It sold 9m by jan 2019 and 13m by August of 2019. 4m between jan to August is quite impressive. Then from August to jan 2020 it definitely can sell 3m because of holidays and bf bundle and price cut. Botw sold 13m in 23 months. Spider man sold 13m in 11 months. I think spider man been outselling botw from August til now because its a newer game, had bf and holidays bundle and price cut

Sorry, the article had the date written in European format.  7/9/18.  So, yes it was September, not July.

No, it sold 9 million by Nov 2018 and 13.2 million by August 2019.

"Additionally, Sony announced that Spider-Man for PS4 has sold 9 million copies physically and digitally as of November 25." Cyber Monday was Nov 26.
"Much of Insomniac's catalog over the years has appeared on Sony PlayStation consoles, including last year's Marvel's Spider-Man, which Sony revealed today has sold over 13.2 million copies." - August 19, 2019.

So it sold 4.2 million from late Nov 2018 (including Cyber Monday) to early August 2019.  That's nearly 9 months.  So, again, no, it is extremely unlikely to have sold 3 more million in the past 4 months.

Did you see Spider-Man listed on any NPD, Euro or WW sales chart during that time? No.
Did you see Breath of the Wild listed on any NPD, Euro or WW sales chart during that time? Every single one of them.

So tell me again how Spider-Man has been outselling Breath of the Wild since August.

I already told you its not listed on npd because bundle games arent counted. Or euro and WW sales chart dont include digital? Itt had a price cut in feb 2019 for $40 but i can definitely tell you during holidays of 2019 you could get the standard game for $20 digital and physical in Australia so i assumed thats also in Europe as well. Not sure about north American. Yes 9m sold by end of November because of bf bundle. Because of the $20 for the standard game during the holidays, bf bundle and the game of the year edition that was released late August it can sell 3m since August

They include digital except for Nintendo and Bethesda.

So let me get this straight.  It was cut to $20 and still didn't make any charts?  And you think it somehow sold 3 million units via discontinued bundles?

Discontinued bundles yes but there were still bf bundle for it. It was $20 in Australian and Europe yes, not sure about north America. Im pretty sure uk chart, japan and many other countries in eroupe dont include digital. Are you sure all chart besides japan include digital? Im sure spider man did well in Australian and all over Europe during the holiday because of the $20 standard game. Would you mind showing me a few chart besides npd and japan

Here are the EMEAA charts for the week ending Jan 05, 2020.

https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2020-01-13-fifa-2020-enjoys-sixth-consecutive-week-at-no-1-in-emeaa-charts

BUT....Spider-Man did re-enter the charts that week.

Thanks. That chart is really cool since it combined most of the countries in Europe. Spider man managed to enter the chart maybe because theres a price cut for the game of the year edition since late December. https://store.playstation.com/en-gb/product/EP9000-CUSA11995_00-000000000MSMGOTY The standard game is back to normal price since last month

In a world of CODs, be a Zelda.

Do you have Zelda games in your top 50?

oh Snap!....I'm so sorry. I have been so busy, but I do appreciate the reminders.  I have a list, but I haven't figured out the orders and I've just been so swamped.  But keep them coming...I'll get my list to you sooner than later.

Do MK8 and BotW include their respective WiiU sales?
That might explain their appearance in the list as well.

So much for TLoU selling more than BotW. Just another year or two and the WW scenario will be the same.

TLOU sold more than BOTW currently in unit-based but definitely not in revenue-based. Those free games, discounted, and promotion are definitely inflated those unit numbers.

BOTW(16.15m units sold) made more money than TLOU(20m units sold)

I think BOTW will take the unit sales number as well at the end.

And at some others;

The Last of Us’s sales are divided in two releases; an original one, and a remaster. I don’t get why that’s always forgotten for this game and only this game and why it’s somehow privileged to be counted as one. Remasters aren’t the same as a multiplat. Neither release outsold Breath of the Wild so it’s natural given BotW’s position on the chart that neither release made it.

Similarly Mario Kart doesn’t seem to include the WiiU version because the Switch version as a remaster is counted separately. It being just a couple spots above BotW with its 20M or something sales is logical. If it had included the original WiiU game its sales would be nearing 30M and with nearly all those at full price it would have probably put it between the Call of Duties.

Breath of the Wild likely does include the WiiU version since that game is just a regular multiplat with simultaneous releases of exactly the same game across a couple consoles, like every CoD on there. BotW Switch+WiiU also outsells Mario Odyssey if I’m not mistaken which explains why it’s not there.

Also, 7 out of the top 10 are CoD. Lol.
