Hey There. As the generation comes to an end this year, there are a few games that I still want to play from the previous generation that I havent played/finished. I want to jump into the next generation with no backlog from the X360/PS3 era.

That being said, a few of those games I did not finish due to very poor performance on PS3 (I have always been a PS guy) and I was wondering if it would be better to just get an used Xbox One console to play those, then sell it after Im finished with them. I know that the previous generation was difficult to transport games to PS3 and as a result most of them ran much better on Xbox 360.

Do I get to play them on 1080p on Xbox One and get solid 30fps? Do I get better loading times? A few of those games on Ps3 were even below 720p and several of them suffered big time of frame rate or other issues.

Here goes a list with a few of them:

- Red dead redemption (pretty bad on Ps3, I just gave up. loading times were horrible.)

- Mafia II (again pretty bad, the screen tearing was unbearable)

- GTA 4 (again very bad... hey maybe its a rockstar on PS3 problem?) Also if Im not wrong the game was on 720p.

- COD World at War

- Mass effect 1 and 2 (played the PS3 collection, 1st one was terrible, 2nd one bugged several times at the same place)

- Portal 1 and 2 (I actually havent tried them on ps3)

- Fallout 3

- Halo Series (as a huge Destiny fan I need to come back to understand where it came from)

Most bc games get a performance boost. On Xbox One X, some are even bumped up to 4k. You're going to have to look at each game individually to see if there are any improvements, though.

I felt like Oblivion looked worse on my Xbox One S.

The problem is xbox one X would be too much of an investment. Dont care for 4k. But having them on 1080 at 30fs would be amazing.

Uh that sucks. Do you fell also better framerate stability and loading times? Of they are just the same?

Also, when patched to Xbox One X, do they also get better on Xbone or the patch applies only when playing on the X?

If you really are going to only play 360 games... why not just get a used 360? It'll be less than half the price of a used XBO and will have 100% compatibility unlike the XBO. Unless you get an expensive XBO X, which it doesn't sound like you're going to, the performance on XBO and 360 should be similar. It depends on a game by game basis, some perform better some may even perform worse.

I finished fallout 3 on XBO just recently, I imagine it runs the same as it did on 360, 30fps with drops. The game completely froze with an awful buzzing sound and had to be rebooted about 3-4 times but in a 70 hour playthrough it's not the end of the world, no idea if those crashes are a symptom of BC or if they occurred on 360 too.

"Do I get to play them on 1080p on Xbox One and get solid 30fps?" - Very few games on the 360 were 1080p and the FPS on the XBO may be better, the same or worse it's a case by case basis. 

The 360 did have less games with performance issues than the PS3 (Bayonetta, GTA IV) but in most cases it's not going to be a game changer. 

Loading times I believe should also be the same on XBO and 360. Fallout 3 didn't feel faster anyway.

I would prefer the Xbone as in theory with better specs it would run 360 games at least with better framerate (or more stable framerate) and better loading times. Also thought it would have some kind of upscaling to 1080p.

But yeah it seems the Xbox X versions would be much much better. But again... would be way more expensive and maybe it would be easier to buy an used pc haha

Really? all 360 games will be enhanced on the new xbox?

At the start with the x360 bc some games run worse but it has become a rarity and I believe all games are improved.

All I heard in VGC is that the BC for X1 is very good and give great boost in performance/graphics.
