After famitsu splits the numbers, we'll probably see ps4 at like 6k in Japan for this week.

These numbers are already taking Famitsu into account.

VGC has split it as:

Week 1 - 39.6k
Week 2 - 26.8k

And the real split is something like 59k-6k.

Now that holiday season is (mostly) over it seems like this is kind of what a typical week in 2020 is going to look like, except for Japan. Worldwide Switch is on fire, but Europe is still slightly in favor of the PS4.

Sony seems to have expanded more in central and eastern Europe this generation and so I bet they still have a couple of decent years left in Europe even if most other areas are ready to move on.

Biggest question mark is what is the BIG game(s) for holiday 2020. Animal Crossing will keep sales up year-over-year through the first half of 2020.

It has to be Zelda BotW 2. That would definitely put it over the edge. However, my gut feeling says there will also be a Mario project set for the holidays.

Yeah I would think it'll be BotW 2 and maaybe like a brand new Mario 2D game? Not a "New SMB" but a whole new 2D series. At least that would be my hope.

Unfortunately I don't think that's likely though. With both NSMB U Deluxe and Mario Maker 2 releasing just last year I'm not sure we'll get another 2d mario on the Switch full stop, much less anytime soon.

What is it that makes you guys so sure the differnce in the US between the Switch and PS4 is that big?
Amazon tracking says the PS4 is ahead of the Switch.
I dont doubt the switch is outselling it, but its probably not by this much imo.

I'm pretty sure Amazon isn't tracking the switch correctly. According to Amazon the standard switch models aren't in the top 100. It's happened before where Amazon hasn't put the switch in the 100 videogame charts.

Amazon currently has the Flagship Switch and Xbox One only in the Electronics department, while PS4 is only in the Video Games department. If the lists were combined, we know that the HAC-001(-01) Switch would be ahead of PS4 based on the items that appear on both lists.

Yeah you might be right. I was hoping the NSMBU port was just to tide over people until they release a brand new reset on the 2D Mario franchise. But even if they do yeah I guess with both the 2d mario port and mario maker in 2019 they would probably wait longer to bring out another 2d mario. Maybe instead it'll just be a couple games from smaller franchises, like Bayonetta 3 + Pikmin or something. I mean I am assuming they're gonna release more than just a single blockbuster (presumably BotW 2) for the holidays considering the new systems are coming out and will garner a lot of the video game excitement of the holidays. Anyway we'll see!

I think Bayonetta 3 is actually quite likely for this year. It's been a while since we've seen it and I expect when it finally rears it's head again it'll be just a few months away from release. I think they'll announce it for a September-December release in a spring/e3 direct.

BOTW 2 I'm not expecting to be ready for this year.

I think there'll be some surprises coming that will be both announced and released this year. What exactly they are I'm not sure. Mario & Luigi? Paper Mario? Donkey Kong Country? I expect we'll find out sometime over the next 5 months.

Maybe 3D World 2 is a contender for surprise holiday release.
