It hurts me that somehow a 7 Year Old Port of a lazy 2D platformer game on the Wii U NSMBU for 60$ made it to the Top 20 in sales on NPD but not Super Mario Maker 2. How do people somehow want NSMBU over the far better SMM2!?

They released both games in the same year. Instead of building the userbase for the 2D Mario game a year before MM2 they just clamped it together in the same year.

Switch not having a 7 million year would be kinda disappoint, because it surely has the potential to do it.
Switch will most likely surpass 40 million lifetime, every console that did over that number had a 7 million year. Some console sold 7/8 million and were not able to reach the 40 million barrer.

That PS4 dropped was harder than many people thought. Even at $249 with 3 free games for 2 weeks it failed to pass the 700k mark. Next year is going to be harder for PS4 at the current MSRP.
