Surely they can afford to skip the biggest gaming event of they year when they are launching a new system?  Right?

Joke post?

2018/19 attendance numbers (from a ZhugeEX tweet):

Gamescom : 373k
ChinaJoy : 365k
Brazil Games Show : 325k
Taipei Game Show : 320k
Paris Games Week : 316k
Tokyo Game Show : 262k
G-Star Korea : 235k
......

E3 : 66k

For US, E3 might be everything, for the rest of the world (where Sony sells the most of its consoles), it is almost irrelevant. E3 money is better spent elsewheres.

You seem confused, why do I care what some Nintendo fans here maybe probably said in some other thread? I’m not debating whether someone said it, I’m asking who cares? Hope that helps.

You clearly have a hard time putting 2 and 2 together.

Chin up, champ. Whatever your point was, I’m sure it will come back to you since you’re unable to articulate it right now. Feel free to hit me up when you remember 👍

E3's actual attendance may be low but it's exposure online is larger. The public couldn't even attend E3 at all until recently (2017), attendance numbers is not it's focus. But regardless, skipping E3 isn't a problem at all as long as they have a suitably big event of their own.

E3 has that kind of attendence, because the event is intentionally made exclusive.  Again, this is a lot like saying the Oscars are not a major event, because it is mostly just Hollywood types attending.  Meanwhile, about 30m people watch the Oscars live and countless more watch highlights, red carpet footage and other similar stuff.  It is the biggest event of the year for the movie industry, because of all the eyeballs drawn in.  The actual attendance doesn't matter as much.

I did a quick Youtube search for highlights of E3, Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show in 2018.  The highest results that came up were

E3 - 1300k
Gamescom - 79k
Tokyo Game Show - 59k

Clearly E3 is the biggest gaming event, worldwide, by a huge margin.

You know that validates the excuse for Sony not going right?

If they dropping the Logo on CES (non-gaming event) get twice as much hype than MS revealing the console at a gaming related event.

So whatever they do will still get coverage, but yes do some joke on it.

Besides, congrats on "prove my point with a quick google search, that is all the evidence you need".

We can say that nobody needs E3, the industry can be extremely successful without e3, but it still stinks.

E3 was the way to gather the industry. A whole weekend of gaming news. It was an industry plaza.

Yes, Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft can still pull off whatever they need without e3, but without e3 everything still feels less fun.

Yep, it stinks for everyone.

They just announced their own event in February, everything's good people.

Lol, I called that earlier in this thread.

E3 limits public attendance so that comparison from twitter is just bad damage control.

I actually hope they open it up to the public eventually. I’m going to SDCC this year, I’d love to go to an E3 as well.

You got e3 wrong.

e3 is not about attendance, because it's not a public event. It's an industry conference. No matter how much we can argue about e3 importance, at the moment, it's still the biggest gaming event in terms of broadcasting audience and industry relevance.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019

There were three ravens sat on a tree / They were as blacke as they might be / The one of them said to his mate, Where shall we our breakfast take?

I like them all to just concentrate all the new big info for their own events so those get more interesting to watch and most people still kinda get the info in the same way, just streaming the event or seeing a youtube vid later on?

It is a change but i do not see that much negatives and i have never seen the majority of people care about most of the information overload of E3 as many just focus on the big news.

So yeah i'm absolutely fine with the way it is going.
