“but but bu.... these other people maybe probably said the same stupid thing probably!”

Why do we care if some Nintendo fans were equally delusional?

If you’re having a hard time following who says what around here, that’s on you. Hope that helps.

You seem confused, why do I care what some Nintendo fans here maybe probably said in some other thread? I’m not debating whether someone said it, I’m asking who cares? Hope that helps.

Unfortunate for us but it still wont change the fact that the PS5 is still planned to launch end of this year at least.

E3 now just feels like an event for MS. Nintendo ditched first in favor of their Direct so I guess Sony wants to do it their way moving forward.

You clearly have a hard time putting 2 and 2 together.

Seems like he also didn't understand that there are some folks doing doom and gloom based on each new PS receives (good or bad), and some that were very dormant have come back to the site.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

It's economics. Causing this much commotion not attending, they have publicity and save money they can spend better elsewhere. Win win.

Hunting Season is done...

Last year it was the general consensus that Sony was skipping E3 for a year to focus on the PS5 in 2020 (not sure if they ever stated this as the reason or not), but now it appears that they had other reasons all along.

I can't help but blame E3 for probably being greedy and charging too much, thinking they are bigger than they are. I thought Nintendo was making a mistake when they opted out of having a stage presence, but clearly E3 is not as important as it once was.

Why get lost in a storm of E3 news when you can have all eyes on you during your own conference in Feb/March/April?

Either way we know Sony is not waiting til June to reveal the PS5 so they might as well have a full blowout in Q1 as opposed to curating content specifically for E3 and holding back on the reveal. Third Party wise PS5 games will be st E3 and all other events, so I dont see any major loss for them.

When have the big boys ever been in danger of getting lost in the storm of E3?

Even as an avid follower of E3, many games or details get lost amongst of all of the noise of E3. If you think about news headlines, youtube coverage etc attention is obviously going to be diluted even if it seems like the big 3 always getting the most of it. They would get even more by themselves. PS5 will make headlines and grab attention regardless of when its shown off, so why not do it in an opportunity where it can be the heart of all media (traditional and social) coverage. This applies to the console, its features, its games and so on.

If sony go all out in their own events and start with a bang that leaves little for an E3, a show where whats playable on the floor isn't the focus but instead the streamed conferences are. I'd argue a no show is better then a show of repeated content where everyone will be like Microsoft beat Sony or whatever. But the real reason for the why they're not there could be political (as in to pressure E3 into adapting to what they want from it)

We can say that nobody needs E3, the industry can be extremely successful without e3, but it still stinks.

E3 was the way to gather the industry. A whole weekend of gaming news. It was an industry plaza.

Yes, Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft can still pull off whatever they need without e3, but without e3 everything still feels less fun.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019

None of the big 3 launched a console last year either.  Timing matters.

As long as they keep themselves in the news cycle they'll be fine tbqh. No conferences last year and a lot of media attention from a non gaming event shows they don't have to be there.

Besides, we don't know what their alternative plans are yet.

Hey, maybe Sony doesn't even need marketing anymore.  I mean every other successful business tries to market their products, but Sony is a special company where all of the executive's farts smell like roses.  Why does Sony even need marketing when they are launching a big new product?  Right?  Surely they can afford to skip the biggest gaming event of they year when they are launching a new system?  Right?
