E3 never had big attendance in the first place. More of its exposure is from the viewers at home. Im pretty sure no other viewership in terms of gaming can beat e3.

You can't say that in 1998 where there was no YouTube or Twitch, or in the last 10 yrs.

If people rather watch from home then companies are better off doing their own direct or experience. E3 is a sinking ship. It's deaded.

But having your directs at E3 gives that extra exposure/advertisement. There was even 1 year Nintendo only showed 1 game and it still had the most exposure of any other games showed. Why cant Sony do this last year and this year?

E3 cost money, and companies pay big bucks to rent space and set up their stage events. if people are not showing up but opting to watch at home then you might as well save yourself the cost and do your direct/psx. If Sony did a show at E3 2020 it would help E3 a lot but not being there definitely is a negative blow to E3.  E3 is dead

Wherever Sony decides to go, people will follow regardless of what event they’re using. The buzz for PS5 is there, and the growing interest will make people watch every move they make, whether it’s excellent or a major flop.

Another sensitive one here it seems 😬

Sorry that discussing E3 and games offended you. Heil Sony. Long live Druckman. In Kojimas name we pray, amen.

😆

Just curious, have you ever had something positive to say about Playstation or their games?

I've been here for few years now and I can't recall a single positive thing about Sony coming from you.

He do in retrospect, like when he say that now Sony is releasing a lot less games and taking less risk, as if he was complimenting Sony during PS3 and bought all those lesser successful games that Sony released at the time (even though if he doesn't really like a single exclusive from Sony, except he says SOCOM - probably because that was on PS2 so enough time passed), but during his J. Alard time you can bet he was mocking Sony for all its exclusives selling less than Xbox360 and they releasing so much low sellers.

You can even see his response that he have done several praises for Sony, but nothing recent because he doesn't like what they are doing, but was unable to source or even say what he praised.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

You know that validates the excuse for Sony not going right?

If they dropping the Logo on CES (non-gaming event) get twice as much hype than MS revealing the console at a gaming related event.

So whatever they do will still get coverage, but yes do some joke on it.

Besides, congrats on "prove my point with a quick google search, that is all the evidence you need".

Over a million people would watch Sony conference at e3. Why would they not do one? If they want to save money they can do a direct like nintendo. Maybe they can even have no showfloor and just do a direct.

They can make a conference, direct, stream or anything in the same day as E3, a week before or after or whenever they like and that would still get the viewership.

We still haven't heard from Sony what are their plans besides "participating in hundreds of other events". Being this the year they release PS5 I doubt they won't do something big to show off.

I just think it's pretty funny he wasn't impressed with 2018 and 2019 PS4 games but he's praising "Papa" Phil for everything he does. How's that Crackdown 3 that released in 2019 huh?

Also no offense, but when grown men call someone "Papa" it makes it sound like the guy is a sex offender, just the nick name I mean.

Well being sincere I don't think anyone anymore believe in the neutrality and lack of console warmongering he says he have. It is pretty clear he is a very strong supporter of MS and doesn't like Sony at all, but he keeps pretending.

The article in the OP stated;

"However, E3 organiser the ESA has struggled to satisfy all of its members who have been split over what they want the show to be. Some publishers such as EA and Sony want to see E3 become a fan celebration of games, whereas others would rather the event remained an industry-focused affair."

I don't know where the info regarding EA's stance on this comes from.
It may be a coincidence that both companies stated to have this issue with ESA decided to not have a press conference last year for the first time. If not, it's worth keeping an eye on.

I'm sorry, but this isn't correct.  As far as Electronic Arts goes, last year represented the status quo going back to 2016.  They didn't participate in E3 proper, but ran a presentation just before E3 where they did the big blowout for Star Wars: Fallen Order that basically kicked off E3 week.

The last time they actually had a booth at E3 was way back in 2015.  Starting in 2016 they've been running these "EA Play" events out of nearby venues, so they've already "skipped E3" while piggybacking on its hype for four years now.

Check it out:

Why in the world would it not be clear that I enjoy what Microsoft offers very much? In terms of hardware and services, anyway. I've stated many times I don't care much for theirs or Sony's games. I can certainly see why someone like you and others here would think I don't like Sony at all, but I don't worry about it because console warriors are gonna do what they do.

Unfortunate for us but it still wont change the fact that the PS5 is still planned to launch end of this year at least.

E3 now just feels like an event for MS. Nintendo ditched first in favor of their Direct so I guess Sony wants to do it their way moving forward.

But Nintendo still have floor at e3. They also do competitions before e3 too like Splatoon, Smash, and super mario maker.

I understand but it's really just about the conference, that's the real meat of E3.  Since Nintendo's been doing Direct for their own E3 it never really felt that Nintendo was there even if they have the floor, it just felt like fillers instead.
