Chin up, champ. Whatever your point was, I’m sure it will come back to you since you’re unable to articulate it right now. Feel free to hit me up when you remember 👍

Without fail. Still the same old J.Allard you’ve always been.

👍

Man ... Leave him Alone, he clearly is upset at these terrible news, he is such a examplary fan of Sony and they do this shit to him?

I wonder how long it's going to be until all three platform holders are out of E3, and it starts getting used only by 3rd parties.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Disappointing news. I'll never forget E3 2015 (or was it 2016) where Sony absolutely stole the show.

Oh well, at least PS5 exclusives won't be cross generation.

Another sensitive one here it seems 😬

Sorry that discussing E3 and games offended you. Heil Sony. Long live Druckman. In Kojimas name we pray, amen.

Just curious, have you ever had something positive to say about Playstation or their games?

I've been here for few years now and I can't recall a single positive thing about Sony coming from you.

Ignorance on your part doesn’t make me guilty of anything. I’ve praised plenty of Sony games here. Nothing super recent, because they haven’t done anything lately that has grabbed me 🤷🏻‍♂️

As long as they keep themselves in the news cycle they'll be fine tbqh. No conferences last year and a lot of media attention from a non gaming event shows they don't have to be there.

Besides, we don't know what their alternative plans are yet.

Hey, maybe Sony doesn't even need marketing anymore.  I mean every other successful business tries to market their products, but Sony is a special company where all of the executive's farts smell like roses.  Why does Sony even need marketing when they are launching a big new product?  Right?  Surely they can afford to skip the biggest gaming event of they year when they are launching a new system?  Right?

Sure, if they want.

Another nail in the coffin for E3.

It seems to be the case indeed. Also with the internet as it is nowadays, it's much cheaper to simply make videos and upload them giving people all the info they need, videos like State of Play or Nintendo Direct.

I hope they still do conferences at E3 or elsewhere cause that was fun to watch but yeah, I get it, why spend millions of dollars to get a space at E3 when you can just make a video and freely upload it on Youtube whenever you want and with as much info as you'd have at E3.

I believe that if E3 wants to survive this transition they need to become a 100% people's oriented kind of event, like GamesCom or the Paris Games Week cause organizing an event just for professionals is no longer relevant. They know this since they began allowing people to attend these past years, but what I'm saying is they need to move full steam in that direction by completely opening to everyone who wishes to attend.

Gotta love all of the silly posts saying that E3 is irrelevant or dead now. Sony skipped E3 last year, and yet E3 2019 attendance was just barely down compared to the previous 2 years, and the number of viewers watching the streams for the other conferences were pretty comparable to 2018 (and 2018 was a record year for online viewership of E3 for every conference except for EA). Nintendo and Bethesda saw an increase in viewer counts over 2018 on Twitch. MS saw a decrease on Twitch, but that was only because Mixer viewership grew alot for them compared to previous years, so while Twitch viewership was down by 200k, Mixer viewership was up by far more than 200k, meaning that MS was up YoY in viewership overall. Overall, MS conference came out on top in viewership on Twitch, with 1.5m peak concurrent twitch views, and well over 3m peak concurrent viewers taking into account the official Mixer and Youtube streams, and people watching unofficial reaction streams. Sounds far from irrelevant to me.

E3 is not suddenly irrelevant just because Sony doesn't want to attend anymore. E3 will almost certainly continue to flourish and grow without Sony, while Sony themselves will do just fine focusing on other events like Gamescom, TGS, and PSX, as well as their State of Play streams.

I thgink the streams is the more important bit.  If most of the people you are reaching are online, why spend as much setting up E3 booths, while having to share attention with third parties?

How could it have been empty last year? Wasn't attendance just slightly down compared to 2018. Maybe it was empty the time he was there or something.

Edit: MS had all their game in their own Ms theater a block away from the main E3 building so a lot of people could have been split between both buildings.  You needed E3 passes for the MS theater so that was probably counted as attendees.

The complicated thing is that the attendance counts includes one and 3 day passes.

For example if you have 60,000 people attend E3 2 years in a row, with 60k having 3 day passes the first year, and 60k having 1 day passes, you suddenly have 1/3rd as many people on the floor.

Year 1:

Monday: 60k

Tuesday: 60k

Wednesday: 60k

Year 2:

Monday: 20k

Tuesday: 20k

Wednesday: 20k

Both years technically have 60k attendees, but on any given day you have a third as many people.
