Should i use one blade of 16 or 2 of 8?

The 16 one is preinstalled but i can grab the other 2 out of my old one. Im getting conflicting information or does it even matter at all since i got it hooked up to my 120hz qled tv

yes.

I bought my laptop with 1 x 16GB and it is a bottleneck. On benchmark tests I was getting 30% lower scores than my USA counterparts who had 2 x 8GB.

2 sticks will provide you dual channel, so you will get better performance. Most games and modern app are programmed to work better with dual channel. Took me a while to work that out.

Yeah, I think you'll usually want an even number of RAM modules for dual channel if possible.

2X8 should be plenty in terms of temp storage space and gives you a boost due to dual channel. Are the speeds similar between the 16GB stick vs the 8GB sticks? It shouldn't matter as much with Intel, but AMD Ryzen craves faster RAM.

Great remark, seeing as the old cards are ddr3 it might be the way to go in the end

Looks like we all assumed it was the same gen of RAM.

If that 16GB stick is DDR4 then ya, those 8GB DDR3 sticks won't slot into the mobo that the 16GB stick came out of. Best bet in that case is to get another 16GB stick. Preferably identical to the 16GB stick you already have.
