Forums - Sony Discussion - PS5 logo 'breaks Instagram image likes record for games'

Lots of people with poor taste I guess. The logo is literally the exact same for 3 generations in a row now, and wasn’t even that good to start with, just a recolor of the superior PS2 logo, why like that? It’s so boring to just do the same thing over and over again. Don’t get me wrong though, not saying the Xbox Series X logo is particularly good either, it’s just as boring as Xbox One’s logo. Both of them are making me miss the old days when console logos were creative; PS1, PS2, OG Xbox, 360, GameCube, Genesis, Saturn, N64, lots of good logos back in the good old days. *sigh*

Basically the modern breed of gamers. Easily pleased with the simplest of things.

I also agree that Xbox is no better. The art of creative logos is lost to Sony and MS.

I mean i can understand liking a logo if its aleast decent or creative but to change a 4 to a 5 and have the world go nuts is a sign of gamers waving there flags more than actually caring if some thing is good or bad.

Im surprised a boring logo managed to pull more attention than to xbox reveal.

Totally agree. But it just shows how massive the PS brand is. I always read articles that discuss the future of gaming, and do not include Sony into it, with a smirk on my face. Let's not forget, the generation starts when they say so

I think this can also be a good thing. It's obvious that gamers care more for the content than how creative a logo can be. Sony and MS need to bring the games to the table, and people don't really care about the shape, form, size, smell of the box. It's a bummer, for us, older gamers, because we know how it used to be, but does it really matter all that much?

Sony won E3 2019 without being there, now they won CES with just a logo that we knew what it would look like before the reveal lol.

fixed

No surprise, Sony Fans posted it everywhere to push the likes more and more. Not sure what someone has from that to push the likes of a logo but gratz I guess

PS - 'You want to be surprised with power? Well here's a given logo, and a concept car?'
Net -

The car isnt something their gonna sell.... its just a prototype to test camra+lenses+sensors, and A.I systems.

Like it or not, Sony sells alot of lenses/camras and sensors.
In the future cars will be sold with alot of these in them, and testing how they then work, becomes important if you want to lead that market.

Your right though, it was a odd thing to see there imo.

Amazing since the logo is in the same style and font as the PS4 logo.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

We all know that people didnt just "like" the logo just for the look of the logo design, but for what the PS5 and Playstation in general represents. That is what we simply call brand power.

Sony has definitely revived themselves this gen playing their cards right with the PS4 and clearly it shows.

"Ryan also commented on the similarities between the PS4 and PS5 logos, explaining that “it is important to give off a sense of consistency for products within the PlayStation brand.” Sony wants people to see the logo and immediately think of PlayStation."

Yeah if i was an investor i would not risk any money in guys like some of you putting so much focus in a logo being creative,a creative logo is worth shit if it takes away from recognition and creativity has context to depend on being a good thing or not.
