Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony Reveals PS5 Logo

Normally wouldn't think anything of this, I don't buy games for the logos lol, but it's interesting that they would reveal the logo by itself rather than it just being there alongside the full console reveal. Clearly they were smart to do so given how much buzz it's created so good for them!

probably Sony will reveal the actual machine and controller during E3 and other basic information,  then from Tokyo Game Show, they will confirm the price, all of the technical specifications and first games release schedule as well

This thread is a tiny bit ridiculous, the thought of Sony being boring and not creative because of a logo that does not need to be that... what?
Meanwhile they give their studios plenty of creative freedom on how to make games, but yeah lets focus on something a logo does not need to be and let it overshadow the whole company.
This is the best recognizable logo for people that bought the previous console and that makes sense if you think about selling what the casual public wants from that product when they see it in stores, the brand in itself is known to have creative games on it and those that are not only playing fifa and cod are mostly aware of that whenever they see the logo.

It’s a logo, a name. Why do people like you think it must be the work of geniuses?

Oh right. Adding Super before the name of your company is such genius. 64 after it? Such brilliance.

Wait, a U after the name of your earlier console! Won’t confuse anyone and is such genius...

Seriously, people commenting like this are a bane to videogame forums.

Oh wait. You were only being sarcastic or joking...

No one innovates like Nintendo!  Not only did they steal their logo from a pizza company - but they took the pizza boxes as well, repackaged them and sold them back to their own fan base for $80 a pop... LEGEND!

Do you not realize the Switch logo looks like a Yin Yang? So then A pizza company stole their logo from a Yin Yang and has been selling poison they call Pizza for decades. Oh and hey remember the time they had the Noid. The horrible mascot with the horrible NES game and they had to stop using it because a guy held a store hostage because the ParaNOID man thought the mascot was mocking him? Oh man, I hope Nintendo rips that off as well!

In All seriousness Switch is a great logo but you have to go all the way back to DS and Gamecube before Nintendo had another good one. 360 is the last dedicated home console with a great logo and before than Gamecube/Dreamcast and Xbox.

. So yeah, I'm clearly not the only one.

Having others share your opinion doesn't validate your clear misconceptions surrounding CES.

It just means you've find an echo chamber to share said misconceptions.

Not like it matters, the logo is arguably generating more conversation for PS5 than the name and hardware reveal of the new Xbox, which only shows that Sony knows what they are doing.

And you clearly not understanding the meaning of the letters CES or even being aware that E3 began at CES or pounding me with replies including words like "misconception" does not mean your point of view is objective in any form. In fact your insistence in replying the same thing in order maybe to convince yourself that your opinion is objective in any form transpires some kind of insecurity regarding the topic at hand.

I'm having a much better convo with others on this issue here DESPITE some of them NOT agreeing with me (For example like I do with The-Pie-Guy) so please just stay out of it, at least until you come up with something more objective than a veiled passive aggressive rejoinder.

Boring but expected.

Better or worse than what SNY decided to go with, minus the clear lack of professionalism?

Had the idea, slapped it together pretty quick, and yes, it's a take off of the PS2 logo design.
