Yes, sure the money MS burned on Xbox original (some claim 5B) and RROD (3B) were pocket change and MS didn't spent any. But every gen we get MS fans to claim MS will use their money to buy the win in that gen, never happened, never will.

Was that Xbox users that still post here? Or is this more of the nonsense where Xbox users on this community have to hear nonsense about and answer to what other Xbox people supposedly maybe said years ago potentially probably on this Youtube video or maybe probably on twitter LOL

All he said was in a spending war, Sony would lose. Which is just factual and plain common sense, not implying that it's likely or has been going on for decades as you try to spin and grasp at straws.

No, what he said is that if Sony decided to buy Zenimax (doesn't matter that MS already bought plenty of studios and want to buy more) MS would retaliate and Sony wouldn't want that.

I dunno if the most profilic poster of MS would win a gen by outspending Sony (by the means of subsiding X1) is still here, been a long time since I saw it. But we have seem posts like this on the rumor discussions, of how MS would warranty they had a more powerful console, that they would use their money to ensure their console would be cheaper, and that Sony can't compete if MS do this or that. But again never happened, never will, because that money spent to war wouldn't bring profits, otherwise MS would already done that before.

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Mate, what a childish response.

Pot, kettle, black.

This seems highly unlikely to me. Zenimax is worth several billion dollars for starters.

Also by owning Zenimax, Sony would own Bethesda... And who wants to pay to own cancer, right?

I suppose one could argue that if Sony owns them, they can change them into a decent company and be done with their shady business practices in regards to games like Fallout 76 but yeah, I don't know.

At the end of the day if Sony has billions to spend in acquisitions, there are far better options (Bluepoint, From Software, Platinum Games,  Deck 13, Housemarque and so many more...).

LudicrousSpeed has hit the nail on the head with my post and understands  exactly what i mean. For some reason you either misunderstand my posts or choose to spin it in multiple directions to make yourself look right.

The Topic was clearly about a buy out war between Sony and MS, you brought in PS3 vs 360 last gen and money spent in RROD etc. I still scratch my head to why you brought that up.

MS and Sony havnt had a bidding war with brands and i am not sure why last 3 generations have anything to do with who will win a buy out war between a corp and a mega corp.

And FYI, my post never meant who's going to win a generation based on console sales, it meant who will win a buy out war when it comes to buying brands.

I'd love to see Sony buy them. My brother's a huge Bethesda fan and he would hate to have to buy a Sony console.

Hehehe, reading some of these comments is juicy stuff.

It may be not too outlandish to presume Sony came up with and offer first, then MS learned about it and made a better deal.

It may also explain Nadella's comment about "being open to acquire more companies". Normally you wouldn't do that kind of statement, because that way you may give incentives to other companies to make acquisitions as well. Maybe that comment was intended as a warning.

I would say that it is more likely that Zenimax reached out, made them bid against each other for the best outcome for them, as they should have. Given the timing of the news of amazon's streaming service  too, they were probably involved and would have been keen having Bethesda's catalog exclusive.

The fact that we are questioning whether or not MS will keep all the games to their own platforms or not is an indicator that the best company won. With the other 2, there is no question.

I'm not familiar with the amount of money Sony is sitting on... So I have to ask: Would they even be able to pay 7.500 million dollars just like Microsoft did?

Could Sony afford to buy Zenimax at 7.5 Billion? yes they could but they only have like what over 30 billion in cash? Spending nearly 1/3 of your cash reserves would not be a smart move for a company especially when Sony as whole were not doing so well a couple of years back.
