Inexile is one of MSs best purchases. Their back catalog is impressive. I’ll give wasteland a try before 3

I am curious, out of Microsoft's two biggest and longest running franchises, Halo and Gears of War, which one is your favorite?

I really enjoy both franchises and while I think Gears of War quality has remained more consistent, Halo is my favorite franchise of all time. The story pulled me in so much I've read many of the books over the years. Halo: CE was THE reason I bought an Xbox over a PS2 or Gamecube.

Easily Halo. Never been a Gears fan. Tried the first one way back and didn't like it, mostly thanks the bleak art design, the roided up main characters, and the cover shooting MP focus with people mainly rolling around from cover to cover shotgunning each other in the few matches I played.

Nothing wrong with not liking those things about Gears of War, it's not for everyone. But the biggest mistake they made with Gears5 was they tried to make it a game for those who share your opinion.

It's now a colorful mainstream action-adventure game lacking an identity. Lazy story that kind a harms the original trilogy, lame characters and dialogue..can anyone remember any good one-liners for example?

So I still recommend you fire up Gears of War 2 and give it a go. I just finished the campaign again and imo it's the best shooter ever made. The story, characters, pacing, action, variety of enemies etc oh boy. There's even much more detail to physics and stuff than Gears5. Much more emotional too, doesn't feel forced like Gears 5.

Everyone should play it again, TC included.

Btw Gears 5 is bombing pretty hard in EU atm. Currently 49th on UK most played list. Burn motherfucker, burn!!

I bet TC's answer to this is more mtx instead of, let's say, a classic horde mode. Instead of this lame class based crap that's only designed with mtx in mind. Like everything else about it.

And to answer the question, I still prefer Gears of War over Halo. Original Gears trilogy is just so good and Gears multiplayer is the best. Gears of War 4 eventually had a brilliant multiplayer as well & a decent campaign.

This might change in the future, depending on TC and how Infinite plays out.

The biggest frustration I have with the Xbox One UI/OS is how god damn long it takes for the console to load 1,000~ titles into the "my games category".

Having to rebuild my games database every time I turn the machine on is pretty unnecessary and a waste of my time, I would rather there was a "check" every time you tried to launch a game, rather than every time I turn the system on.

Games with Gold is pretty mediocre this month, missed opportunity by not throwing Ori and the Blind Forest as a title in my opinion, is what it is though.

Sounds like you don't use the Instant-On feature.

Sega is doing a good job with Yakuza on Xbox

Yakuza 0 is only $20.

I prefer how the new Xbox One UI is vertical. It is easier to navigate. I haven't really checked out any of the sub areas yet, but I am having no issues with it so far.

The overall UI is great and responsive and the Guide makes getting around much quicker and easier than any other console UI my only gripe is with the "My Games & Apps" area it's gone from:

Scrolling down to the tabs > then pressing RB/LB to scroll through install and Not installed

Now:  Scrolling down > clicking on either Full Library or Manage > scrolling right 1 or 2 times depending on which part you want to access > clicking on the one you want to access > clicking on "All Games" > scrolling down to Installed or Uninstalled > clicking on said option.

There is now so many extra layers of action required to get to the same areas as before and after accessing each area there is now also more backtracking to get to one of the other options, I really don't what what their intention was with the update to Games & Apps.

Halo has such a vast and rich universe mixed in with modern problems such as human politics. It’s sci fi yet somehow believable, if you leave out the aliens part lol. I love the games but I’m a lore fan first and foremost...I’ve never seen a franchise with such a vast extended universe that makes the games shine all the more.

I mean there was Star Wars...and then Disney retconned all the EU ;)

Man, Ori looks so fucking good. Can't wait.

I love Halo and Gears. The only thing I don’t like about them is their “hardcore” fans.
Halo 5 story was kinda convoluted but the gameplay was the best feature of the game. I don’t mind if I don’t play as Master Chief at all. I hate that most of the community cheer  for his super man complex and not give space for the lore to be amplified in the mainline games.
Gears has always had very good gameplay and 5 is no exception. I really hope they go full RPG on GOW6 and maintain the gritty in your face gameplay.

Gears --> Halo --> Fable --> Forza. Don't know much about AoE, played the original like 20 years ago or something.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps is going to be beautiful. Can't wait!
