Forums - Gaming Discussion - Are gaming chairs as good as they say?

My chair is starting to break apart after many years of service, and I was thinking of maybe buying one of those gaming chairs that look more like a racing car than a chair. Are they as good as they say, or are they more or less equal to other desktop chairs?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Is anyone not endorsed by a gaming chair company saying they are actually good? :P

I'd take a desktop chair (even a low budget one) over pretty much any gaming chair I've tried. If you sit a lot in front of your computer, do yourself a favor (if you can afford) and buy a proper desktop chair.

I've demoed several. Seem pretty overrated to me. I prefer executive style office chairs.

Just try some desk chairs made to work up to 12 hours a day sitting on it and you will be fine if you find the right one.

Are you saying that regular chairs fit 7 foot giants?

My Etsy store

The seats do, but not the headrests. :(

They look comfy, never used them as i just sit on my couch for console gaming and have a laptop for PC gaming.

Old Roommate paid $170 for a really high end one. Meanwhile I got a leather office chair for free from a company that didn't want it anymore because they were moving across state lines. He liked my office chair better. Looked it up and the office chair was $150.

I like mine a lot. But, I am mostly a console gamer. So, it's primarily used for some VR gaming, and regular home office stuff. I don't spend tons of continuous hours in it.

If you're buying new, $170 does not get you a high end gaming chair.  That's entry level price.
