Forums - Gaming Discussion - Your game of the decade (2010-2019)

Now that the 2010s are basically done, what was your personal game of the decade, and what made it so great to you?

Xenoblade X for the Wii U. Spent 1000 hours in the game despite not being precisely an online focused title, so it goes without saying that I loved it to death. I left it with a few bosses undefeated.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Persona 5

The game came at a point in my life when I was unsure of what I wanted to pursue at in life, and the game just immersed me with its characters and pretty insane story. I met a lot of people thanks to Persona 5 and I wouldn't be where I am today without it.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

The Last of Us

For me The Last of Us is the bench mark. It set the bar for story, character development, level design, and pacing. There is an amount of polish in the game, that made it feel like a generational leap compaired to anything that came before it, and only a seclect few since have come close to.

Honestly, the game nearly ruined gaming for me, because after playing it, I had an extremely difficult time going back to playing anything else. Easily my most played game of the decade, between PS3 and PS4. Without a doubt my game of the 2010's.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

Witcher 3

I would say Fire Emblem Three Houses and Persona 5 are a close second and third respectively.

NieR: RepliCant/Gestalt

Persona 4 Golden, Persona 5, NieR: Automata, and Dragon Quest XI would be other ones that come close.

Zelda Skyward Sword.

Still the best and most immersive controls of any game I've played along with some of the best level design of any game plus one of the best stories and soundtracks in the series. That 7-hour stretch from the start of the Ancient Cistern through the end of the Pirate Ship is the best 7 hours of any videogame I've ever played.

Second would be Portal 2.

Splatoon 2!!! Never have I spended over 1000 hours on a console game. And never I expected I would love a shooter game.

Pocky Lover Boy!

My personal pick would be Kerbal Space Program - there was plenty of games I liked this decade, but none kept me as occupied through years as this one.

Alpha Protocol, one of the coolest games, when you make the right character build.

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.
