Forums - Movies & TV - The Rise of Skywalker was awesome - FIGHT ME! (spoiler free)

Can we cool it with all the star wars threads. There's no reason for this to be a thread, you could have posted this any of the other threads about this film.

I just had a thought. Did the rebels even defeat the First Order? I know they took out Palpatine's Final Order Armada but I think the First Order is still at 100% minus Kylo.

I could be wrong.

Drink everytime "Rey" is said during the film.

As I already said elsewhere, I thought it was good. Not great, but still a solid ending to the new trilogy nonetheless. The main criticism I'd have for Rise of the Skywalker is that it plays everything safe, after The Last Jedi actually did something new and interesting with the series. All three films in this new trilogy have their problems, but overall I still like them all. At least they washed away some of the bad taste that the prequels left me with.

Opposite for me. Disney Star Wars has made me appreciate what Lucas did with the prequels. They could never touch the originals, but they still felt like Star Wars.

The movie itself was fine. I'll have to watch it again but I'd say now it's the best one of the sequel trilogy. The movie did the best it could with what it was set up to do. Which is a problem in itself, but I had already given up on expecting a coherent trilogy. So if you look past the fact that the overarching story of the sequels make no sense, this movie is fine.

I enjoyed it too.
Look, I'm going to do a prediction. In 5 years, the discussion will have shifted from "the sequels were the death of Star Wars" to "the Sequels were ok".
Sure, some people will never like these movies, and many people have legitimate reasons. But a lot of people really need to take a chill pill concerning the sequels.

I assumed the First Order became part of the Final Order.

I think we're to assume the combined forces then went on to defeat the First Order, which is dumb as it means they coulda done this from the start. As with TLJ, the more you think about the movie, the stupider it gets.

I think the end implied, without their leadership, the First Order's hold on power crumbled rapidly. They probably survived as an organization, but not as a galactic power.

I would suspect the new rebellion would destroy what is left of the New Order or it disbanded. Apparently Palpatine was always pulling the strings that was even more significant than Kylo's death.

Then they start the New New Republic or whatever.
