Great game. I play mainly offline chest battle to see how many consecutive wins i can achieve and earn money to unlock everything in gallery.

Try ranked matches, the training mode in between the matches (that's there by default) is such a good way to slowly develop your moves. Learn a move, practice it, accept an online ranked match, try what you learn during a real match, get back to training mode to further tune your skills. It's so effortless to juggle between practice mode and an online match.

Well, as far as gameplay, 5DR is easily my favorite Tekken (otherwise Tekken 3 is the best for its time, and 2 had the best story/atmosphere). I feel that T7 Season 3's combos are more ridiculous than Tag 2's; it's easier to execute high damaging combos and reaching the wall is a breeze with the updated wall carries, and then of course there is Akuma who is flat out absurd in the hands of the right player. I honestly think Tag 2 was the better and more generous game that never got the appreciation it deserved. Not a big fan of Tekken 7 with all the crappy DLC practices, and Powercrush/Rage Art mechanics.

That being said, it is at its core an incredible game and imo still competitively superior to any fighting game not called Tekken (having never played a Virtua Fighter). The knowledge and skill ceiling remains extremely high and satisfying. It's really nice to finally see this series grow as an eSport.

This year has been an absolute insanity with Arslan Ash and Pakistanis coming out of nowhere and crushing legends from Korea, Japan and the world. It was just sooo good from beginning all the way to the end, couldn't possibly be more anime with that sick conclusion at the TWT Finals!

Everyone: NO AKUMA IN THE TOP 8, YAY!

I HATE RAGE ARTS. It's just terrible, and it does too much damage, even though it was good to see Akuma getting knocked out with one XD

Power crushes though? I think I like them, it can get you out of difficult situations or forces you to be careful until you actually win the round; great utilization of power crush at 12:10 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaphpxYmUs8&t=). Funnily enough Akuma was nerfed heavily after this match/tournament

Tekken 7 made many questionable decisions regarding the gameplay but I think it paid off even if there are things that I absolutely hate. Leory's cane? give me a break. But these experiments are keeping the game fresh though, and they seem to pay attention to what the community likes/dislikes but it also looks like they're still trying new mechanics with Fahkumram.

Curious as to what DLC practices you are against? Knowing that the base game has 36 characters to choose from.
