Forums - Movies & TV - Star Wars Episode 9 currently the 3rd lowest reviewed movie in the series by critics

Well, I do love me some Phantom Menace and this one is actually 5 points better!

Considering how well the very flawed The Last Jedi was reviewed, I don't think I can trust reviewer consensus on Star Wars movies.

Signature goes here!

Yes, only episode 1 and The Clone Wars reviewed lower, though the margin is close enough to Episode 2 that it could pass it as more reviews come in.

Not sure if this is a good sign or not. Critics loved episode 8 and it was terrible, one of the worst movies I have ever sat through. Maybe the fact that the critics hate Episode 9 is a good thing, afterall they didn't like Episode 1 or 2 and I like those quite alot. However, it's also worth noting that fan reactions at the Hollywood premiere were mixed, some said that it was great and a perfect conclusion to the Skywalker saga, others said that the plot was horribly convoluted and hard to follow.

I think we have another TLJ on our hands, going by the plot leaks, which have been confirmed. Only this time they aren't exactly pushing an agenda that agenda driven critics can get behind. In fact, them trying to desperately get back the fans they shit on just two years ago may have pissed those critics off.  Now, we just have a mediocre, maybe even bad, film that critics can't ignore is convoluted and poses more questions than answers old ones. Something Jar Jar Abrams is known for.

I thought watching the trailers this would be a convoluted mess, and what I've read from the reactions/reviews is that it's a convoluted mess. Can't say I'm in a hurry to see this.

People need to stop looking at critics reviews. Critics these days are just attention seeking fuckwits who think their opinion means more then a regular person. They like to pretend they are some sort of trend setters and that normal people who just like to enjoy movies aren't worthy of knowing what a good movie is. Not everything needs to be a clockwork orange out there wtf to be good.

Gonna go watch it in 1 hours..I hope its better then the pile of trash TLJ was.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

My low expectations are met with low critical scores. So... Whats new?

Considering the absolute nose dive that they've been on, would anybody really be surprised to learn that they couldn't course correct?

I mean how could the ending to this trilogy be anything other than bad, when they started it without any clear outline for where it was going, the middle movie threw all the major mystery box plotlines from the first in the trash, and then you ask the guy who had all his set ups tossed to come back and finish it, by in turn giving the middle movie the finger and trying to piece his half baked ideas back together, while of course also coming up with an ultimate end to the "Skywalker Saga" that all the already angry fans won't crucify you for…….

Can't imagine how that could possibly turn out poorly.

They just need to reboot the whole thing.

Yep. I can't say that I've ever trusted movie critics, some of my favorite movies got absolutely terrible reviews from critics. They're just a bunch of pretentious idiots who think that they are somehow more qualified to say if a movie is good or not than the average person just because they took a few film and/or writing classes in college, big whoop. Their Episode 8 scores ruined any credibility they once had in my eyes.

For me too many of them take this shit too serious and look for things that are not there to try and sound like they invented the cure for cancer and that is the only valid opinion. It is just a movie. Not everything will be perfect. There is no need to over analyse everything in a movie just enjoy it for what it is.

On the flip side, I'll use the Joker as an example of over analyzing it.

If the movie wasn't called Joker, would it score so highly with regular viewers? Take that title away and all you see is a man with mental issues. Is that something that people would want to watch?

Now for me the biggest disappointment was if this movie is truly a one off as they said (and don't change mind to cash in on a sequel), it basically ended nowhere that ties it well to the other batman movies. How can you praise a movie like that which has no real tie in other than a name?

Now I could sit there and say the movie was so bad because of that flaw (my personal opinion) and hate on the movie, but overall when you don't over anaylse things, the movie was pretty good to watch irrespective of the title. It showed how years of mental fuckup can turn a regular man into snapping to be a deranged psychopath.

At the end of the day, everyone has an opinion like they do an arsehole. Some will love some will hate.
