There was even a $350 model the day it died.

No, there wasn't. The Wii U's price was cut to $300 in September 2013.

Twas a joke mate.

There will definitely not be another Mario Kart on Switch. There is no reason for them to cut off the game with the best legs when they can focus resources elsewhere and launch next system with mario kart again. Two Mario Karts on one system would be redundant, which is why its never been done and won't be done now. If it had only sold a few million because people were like oh its just a port that would be one thing, but its the best selling game on the system by far, so there is zero reason to break the mold and have two karts on one system.

I definitely don't think this will be the peak year. I imagine next year will be it if they can bring out a couple 10+ million sellers in the Fall plus a price cut. I guess its hard to say they need to cut the price when they are gonna sell 20 million in a year, but with new systems coming out and the system passing 3 years old it makes sense to cut the price to keep it low and competitive compared to new systems. With basically no competition next year I'm guessing they will wait to cut the price until the holiday season, though if sales start to slow in the summer if they don't have much coming out in the summer I could see them throwing the price cut in early to get a mid-year boost.

I'd say price cut, AC in March, BotW and a brand new 2D Mario series in the Fall could drive a 22 million sales year as Switch's peak.

"There will definitely not be another Zelda on Switch. There's no reason to cut off it's great legs when they can focus resources elsewhere and launch the next system with Zelda again. Two Zeldas on one system would be redundant."

lol but true. That it hasn't been done before isn't a reason to not do something, they can and will if they want to. MK8D by itself will undoubtedly sell less than MK8D + MK9.

Lucky. I joined in June 2013, just as the WiiU started to crash and burn. I remember I'd be excited when it managed to sell over 30k in a week. Now the Switch sells in a regular week what the WiiU sold in the peak holiday sales. It's pretty surreal.

I'm hoping for a resolution on the drifting issues so I can get one for myself.

If you don't plan on playing it handheld too much, a Pro Controller will absolve you of that issue.

I contributed to those Switch sales with 1 unit

Nice, what games you got for it?

I plan to buy games for it until my vacation starts this Saturday cuz this week's been pretty busy for me (I only bought the console last week because it was on sale and I couldn't resist to get it ). The first games I'll get are Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey.

Great choices, definitely two of the best games the system has to offer.

Sorry but no. Mario Kart only comes out one per system. Same is not true for zelda so that doesn't make sense. Mario Kart already came out on Switch, gotta wait for Switch 2 for the next one.

MK8D is at #1 in the Swiss Nintendo eShop charts, so at least in Europe it still sells incredibly well. No need to release a successor (I want to have one though, because I play it since the release on Wii U 5 years ago).

Unless you can show me where Nintendo has made that a rule, then what you're saying makes no sense. Everything ever at one point hadn't been done before.

Didn't expect the Switch/PS4 gap to be THAT big. You can park a truck in that gap. amirite?

MK8D is Nintendo's GTAV sales-wise, there's no way Nintendo will cut off that kind of monstrous leg for another Mario Kart series on the system. MK9 will be saved for the next Nintendo system.

GTA V level(30m-40m seller)= MK8D
COD/Fifa level(Yearly franchise with 10-20m sellers) = Pokemon series
Heavy hitters(20m sellers) = new Smash Bros, new 3D Zelda games, new 3D Mario games, and new 2D Mario games.
Surprise hitters(10m sellers)= LG3, SMP, Splatoon 2, 2D Zelda games, and Metroid(??)

"Nintendo will never make mobile games!!!"

"Nintendo will never abandon seperate handheld and home consoles!!!"

"Nintendo will never port over so many previous gen games!!!"

I personally dont see them releasing MK9 on Switch, MK8 is consistently still in the weekly/monthly top 10 in almost every major region and the team hist recently released Tour so I think they will wait to release MK9 as a Switch 2 launch window title but its definitely not impossible.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

If I were Nintendo, I would save Mario Kart 9 to be the killer app launch title for Switch 2. By then it'll be the first new MK in 9 years, with all the pent up demand plus the already massive power of the IP, it would be a system seller of epic proportions.
