"Don't fix a bad system because it's always been bad!" However, for handhelds it at least made more sense since they're more personal than shared by the whole family like a console, and at least on the Gamecube you need only buy another memory card. On Switch you'd need to buy another whole system if you want your own Island (you'll probably want your own copy as well), and this method also seems to be preventing cloud saves and user transfers as they're not system based like New Horizon's save is.

The better way is this, each user profile gets it's own Island and can create up to 8 Villagers. This satisfies both those who want to share and those who don't, and it keeps the save user based for compatibility with cloud and transfers. Crazy idea I know, but if even Pokemon did away with the arbitrary 1 save file per cartridge limit, Animal Crossing has absolutely no excuse. We can only hope they were too dumb to see this simple n superior method, rather than purposely forgoing it in order to strong arm people into buying their own Switches.

Except AC and Pokemon are different games with different goals Pokemon didn't drop single files either it's one per user, for all you know could have their own section of the one island that doesn't interfere with yours so going on this outrage trip right now is daft.

Yes, Pokemon and AC are not the same game... and? They still use saves files, with both only allowing 1 save file for the longest. Pokemon did drop single files even if it's only because of the Switch's inherent user system. You can have 8 users per Switch, therefore you can 8 save files on a single game compared to the 1 in all prior Pokemon generations which required you to buy more copies of the game for more saves.

I know what shared island means and how that's different from your completely made up and nonsensical idea of a segregated island. We've already seen what the maps look like and they're very much not divided into 8 sections, you can place your house anywhere, and simultaneous multiplayer is a thing. This all means every player can affect every part of the island, obviously as it'd defeat the purpose otherwise. Even if this was true, it's still a terrible design choice that's inferior to the better way I already mentioned.

lol how am I going on an outrage trip? Not all criticism towards Nintendo is unjustified hatred you know.

Spare me your usual campaigning BS you replied to me with some outrage over something that after release will be seen as a non issue you're the definition of the type of people Jim Sterling was on about in his recent video on boycotts, different games don't require identical approaches due to different aims Pokemon is an RPG adventure AC is social sim.

Shared means you're all on the same Island that meaning that does not exclude the possibility of people having their own section nothing you've said here really disproves this possibility we've seen the map but we haven't seen how multiple users on the same console works multiplayer could be the same as ACCF for all we know where people come around to visit your space so this remains to be seen.

You're banging on in the usual manner you do everything Paper Mario, Fire Emblem, Pokemon etc... I don't care for it call your agony aunt instead.

I will not spare you truth and reality no. I replied to you with what the issue is as your post seemed to imply there wasn't one. Was also a way to get my thoughts on the matter out. Not sure what Jim Sterling has to do with anything (other than as an obvious distraction), but he certainly doesn't change the fact that Pokemon and Animal Crossing use save files. You're not even attempting to explain why them being obviously different games is relevant in this matter.

If that's how it worked then they woulda said so when talking about it, so I don't think it's even a possibility, but again this is irrelevant when it's still worse than the ideal way. Now you're just straight up lying. We have seen simultaneous same system multiplayer, I even posted a video of it in this thread, so we know it's not like City Folk or any prior game. We have also seen that you can choose where stuff goes like your House same as in New Leaf, no additional invisible walls or restrictions to compensate an island divided into 8.

I'm not sorry my thoughts opinions and criticisms offend you. People are unique individuals, accepting that is something you still need to work on then.

Maybe you need to read before you jump in with your attempted forum activism BS someone asked does anyone have an issue and pointing out that's how it's always been highlights it's nothing new for most people into the series so not as much of an issue as being made out to be nowhere in the post will you be able to find it say the is no issue because that is you choosing to read between lines to give you an excuse to go off on another rant. Jim Sterling a common critic of Nintendo highlighted that the are groups of people so engaged in outrage culture that when a said game does well their antics become a laughing point even when the are legit criticisms this group take it to a point where it becomes comical and you've provided a good example of it right here congratulations.

They haven't said much period they've just given vague details again this is what I highlighted above you've come to your own conclusion off very little before anything, the video you even posted is also likely outdated as prior videos says 4 users now we're hearing it's 8 users we don't know whether it's not like CF because no specifics have been given yet the most recent video the September ND video is vague at best.

People are unique individuals only problem is I didn't ask for your views or opinions nor was my reply aimed at you or in the context you're trying to argue if I wanted opinions and views such as yours I'd visit a big top and ask around there.

I really hope the video game culture can just chill for a bit about all this. For something that is supposed to fill us all with joy, it amazes me how often our favorite hobby results in anger and meanness. I'm sure Nintendo has some reason for what they're doing, and if not I'm sure that maybe they're reading the negative buzz on this and working on solutions.

But at the end of the day, Like Pokemon Sword and Shield, we're all going to buy it and love it and appreciate it for what joy it does give us, regardless of its limitations. I'm not sure we need to attack each other over these things, though. At the end of the day all systems have limitations and working around those limitations often gives us the most happiness. So once the game is released I won't be surprised to see how many work arounds people find that make all this conversation moot.

But as for me, I'm not really sure it even matters that much. If someone is playing Animal Crossing on my Switch, I gosh darn hope they're playing on my island. That is one of the coolest parts of Animal Crossing.

I can't remember City Folk save situation but wasn't it only one town per system on Wii? Sure the original on GC you could swap out memory cards but I believe City Folk had the one town per system with 4 villagers limit. It's been so long but can anyone verify limit on that. Sure it isn't excuse for them not try to have better system in future. This is a non factor issue to me because I am the only person in household who plays on consoles. My girl just plays bejeweled 3 on steam and that is about it.

I'm not gonna argue semantics, not much of an issue vs. no issue. You were trying to downplay an issue with a piss poor excuse, so I responded. If responding to a post is forum activism to you, lol whatever. As for Jim Sterling, good for him, but he's not relevant in this discussion. I can only assume you're desperately trying to spin the topic to be about "gamer outrage" because you know your arguments don't work but don't want to admit it.

No you just need better comprehension. It's 8 user profiles where up to 4 of which can play simultaneously, no way you can think it'd be 8 players at once when the Switch only supports 4 controllers. The video literally has two people playing together on the same Switch, on an island with no buildings on it, yet you're still gonna claim we don't know if it's like City Folk...

I'm going off of what was shown and what was said, not your made up ideas and assumptions to conveniently suit your argument. If things change, then so to will my thoughts change, but not a moment sooner. However, there's really no way to justify not giving each user profile it's own island with up to 8 villagers. There's nothing 1 island per system can do that 1 island per user can't, only less.

This a forum, not a preschool. We can post without needing to ask first, and are free to reply to anyone's post. If you're going to go on the internet, be prepared to see differing views. Expecting everyone to not say anything you don't agree with is not a realistic plan.

Anyway back on track we'll keep the heated part of things out of here to avoid derailing the thread is what it is but all we've seen of it so far are vague showcases, AC since CF has indicated a more connected and shared social interaction within the goal of the experience kind of like a pseudo MMO. I can see ACNH going more for this while counterpart title Tomodachi eventually emerges and focus more on the personal kind of experience of the social sims.

@Dolphin I'll tell you again write to your agony aunt and don't derail the thread with another one of your circus rants everything you're arguing is of your own imagination don't reply again continuing this.

lol who are you trying to fool? We can all see that you were the one to first start going off about gamer outrage as well ignore my points relevant to the discussion in favor of talking about your idol Jim Sterling. Such a lack of honesty and accountability. Sadly, as much as I wish 1 island per system rather than per user was my imagination, it is in fact reality. But yeah it's clear you have no arguments while I've already presented all mine, and you are taking this way too personally for some reason, thus there isn't much good to come from continuing this with you so I wont, but not because you told me to.

Dude the person asked a question where answers would be specific to the user for a start the whole narrative you're arguing about claiming that I said the is no issue comes solely from you and you alone as if asked to point out where no issue was even said you'll never be able to hence why you had to change that part to downplaying. Yes I highlighted outrage as look at your first response harping on about bad systems when as two others have also highlighted the same system isn't too much of an issue which was the point to begin with the irony is the part with you going on about differing views but here you are upset that people may not see the issue as much of one.

Fact is you never made any points to begin with you just shoved your conclusion out there and and it was addressed at which point you repeated the same conclusion so again do not reply continuing this please.
