PC specs do not suddenly jump when a new generation of consoles come out. PC Specs are always gradually rising. Add in the fact that cross-gen games will be around for a few years... yeah these won't be "minimum specs" for a very long time.

True if you want playing cross gen games that coming to PS4/Xbox One or even MOBA and Free to play games and Indies games

But to run games that specifically build for Xbox Series X, then equal spec is bare minimum, unless you want to run like crap.

Except PCs have the mystical ability to adjust graphics settings. Not only will weaker systemss be able to run those games, they will also be able to run the games faster if they turn down the graphics enough.

Being forced to have games run like crap is a console thing, not PC.

PC with powerful spec , that's why i make this thread on suggesting to upgrade at equal spec with xbox Series X

Console spec will be the bare minimum, while PC spec above Xbox series X will be bonus and able push more above consoles standard. Because most PC gamers want to run 60 fps , then twice the spec of Xbox Series X is minimum. Or you will choose to sacrifice graphic over performance.

I did a post about this a while back and got the same kind of responses. Fact is the minimum requirements of next gen multi platform games will be exactly what is in these next gen consoles. Not sure if that will be a RTX2080 super, though, but things like hardware ray tracing will be a thing and most gpu's nowadays don't support it. Obviously, you can always lower the graphics settings but what kind of self respecting pc gamer wants to play games like that?

Raytracing won't be mandatory for a long time, you will be able to turn it off for years to come.

Over 50% of hardware surveyed in November by Steam had a GPU at or below the GTX 1050 TI in power. The majority of PC Gamers do not play on high settings.

Ray tracing will be mandatory when all multiplatform games will be designed with consoles in mind that support it. And yes, you can turn it off. Hell, I bet they can get any ps5 game to run on a iphone if they really wanted to. However, it will be a seriously limited and watered down experience. All the OP is saying is that the minimum requirements will go up big time next year. Meaning, most pc gamers will need to upgrade if they want to play next gen games in the way that the developers intended the games to be experienced on consoles.

That being said. The RTX 3xxx gpu's will probably be out before these next gen consoles launch.

I just got my laptop last year after 7 years with the old one. I'm sure my 1060 will be fine for me. After all they have another model on par with PS4 pro coming as well.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

Don't be silly, an RX 5700 and 16GB memory (obviously 8GB won't play next gen games) with a 6 core Ryzen will be more than enough for some time. You can always slightly adjust the settings. For sure 8GB memory, quad core, and mid range video cards below the RX 5700 (which has GTX 1080 performance) won't work well.

I just saw the thread title and knew who posted it (though it was a 50/50 chance, and the other one posted also already stating the same stuff, sooo...), what would be written in his post and that it's all a load of bull since he doesn't understand how the PC gaming business works. And have not been disappointed, to note:

Need at a minimum a 2080 Super? a) We don't even know the specs of the X series yet and b) does he still not understand the PC gaming specs are a gradual increase, not big jumps at new console generations, despite lots of attempts to tell him that by several posters here.

8c/16t minimum? Yeah, no. Just consider this: In 2016, most outlets still told everybody that for gaming, a 4c/4t Core i5 would be amply sufficient despite consoles having 8c for a couple years already. At the same time, an i7 was considered unnecessary overkill as practically no games were making use of more than 4 threads. An 8c/8t Core i7 9700 will still be amply sufficient in the coming years despite not having 16 threads. In fact, outside of some frame stuttering/min FPS, an old 4core i5 is still perfectly serviceable today - just can't keep up with 6 or more threads anymore as engines now slowly know how to split the workload upon 6-8 cores. 8 cores is still pretty much a hard limit that almost no game can cross, hence why a Ryzen 9 3900X/3950X are overkill in gaming even when accounting for the next 5 years or even more.

An SSD certainly helps for the loading times. But in games, the difference between an SATA SSD, PCI-E 3.0 NVME or even several PCI-E 4.0 in Raid O is very negligible, as several tests have proven. The reason is that Games need the fast access, but not the higher bandwith NVME brings to the table.

Gaming PCs already have 16-32 GiByte these days and certainly will move to 64 GiByte during next gen, even if the next-gen console only come with 16GB of unified RAM. PC simply has other needs here that are not connected to gaming.

Except that's not how it works. It's always the lowest common denominator who decides. And if not enough PC hardware is fir for Raytracing, it won't be mandatory as it would cost way too much potential customers if they tried to force it.

Besides, we don't know yet which Raytracing system will be used and what for. Without knowing these, your statement is null from the get-go.

Wow. This is one of those threads where you hope that people are just joking but deep down you know they're not and that makes you sad.

Some people are just very high up on that Dunning Kruger curve.
