I played a lot of VR in the 90s. They had places you went to and paid $10 for 10 minutes. It was an FPS sorta. Don't remember the name. These days my head would get swimmy if I tried VR. Even 3D gives me a severe headache.

When I was a cop, we had this vr driving simulator that gave me a similar experience. I think it was because of the low frame rate or something. Even after we got out, it was hard to even walk.

Today's VR is much much better. Especially 4K+ VR videos but games are great, too. If you haven't tried them, I say give it a shot. If you have and you don't like it, I understand.

VR is amazing. I have bought many more VR games in the past couple years than pancake games. It is still a hassle though (PSVR) needing the right light conditions, space, camera setup, mind the cables, more controllers to charge, dealing with annoying comfort options or limited movement options. It's worth putting up with all that for what you can get already.

Currently I'm playing Borderlands 2 VR with the aim controller and Beat Saber and Blood and Truth with the move controllers. I played NMS with the DS4 which still works better for movement, Next gen needs analog sticks on the motion controllers.

PSVR2 should greatly reduced the hassle.  Particularly if wireless pans out.

And greatly improve tracking.

I'm not too bothered by the cable from the headset to the console, it's the breakout box mess that's most annoying. I would be happy If I could simply plug the headset straight into the ps4 pro. The downside of wireless is compromises in image quality, extra latency however slight, an a battery that adds weight and needs to be charged. Nvm the extra costs for wireless that can better be spend on other improvements.

Inside out tracking without the need of a camera would be great, less clutter.

The only comfort option I would like to see is a better fit over my glasses or lenses you can focus yourself. My glasses restrict the fov somewhat (can't shove the headset all the way in) and some games like Borderlands 2 have hud elements half on or above the rim of my glasses. Most glasses aren't designed for enlarged vertical fov lol. Replaceable lenses would also be great since the same thing happened on my second psvr unit. My glasses somehow mess up the left lens which gets a permanent 'worn' area after a while. It's not too distracting but once you know it's there you always see it ugh. My eyes are too dry for contact lenses, the easiest solution will be lenses you can focus yourself so I don't have to wear my glasses when playing.

OMG i cannot wait for PSVR 2 i am ready for PS5 and PSVR2.

I don't care if it's wireless or not, but i do want they move out from PS3 light tracking and use like in Oculus rift S but better and want to have 1440p resolution and better FOV (probably up to 130 degree). And want they have new controller with analog stick, if they have finger tracking that will be bonus.

I've played a bit of VR here and there, and while it's definitely been fun for what it is, I haven't yet experienced or seen anything that would make me buy a VR headset myself. Maybe in the future that'll change, but for now I just don't care enough to actually invest money in VR.

I've been using VR since Rift dev kit 2. Astrobot is the best VR game I've played.  PSVR does a great job with it.

PSVR does not do a good job in theatre mode.  The screen door effect ruins the experience.  I've never watched a movie in the higher-end units.  But, I'm skeptical that even those are good enough for movies right now.  But, I agree that this is theoretically a good use of VR.  The tech just isn't there yet.

As I've mentioned other times on VGC, the coolest experience I've had in VR was watching a live boxing match on my Samsung Gear VR.  I felt like I was sitting in the front row.  That experience convinced me that VR will be a great way to experience sporting events.  However, due to resolution and screen door effect limitations, even high end VR only works for things that take place in a very small area right now.  Basketball will be good soon, I think.  But, we're a good ways from being able to follow a baseball game or golf in VR.  Those sports currently look terrible.  The time will come though that we'll all be sitting behind home plate, courtside, and on the 50 yard line.

Oculus Go isn't even high end, it's a standalone mobile device and it does a way better job that the high end devices for watching video content. So much better in fact you can barely see the SDE and have to actually look for it. I think it's 149 on sale at this point.

I have not used Oculus Go.  Maybe I'll pick one up at some point.  But, do you know if Quest is also good with video?  If so, I might rather go that route.

From my research, the Quest is better than the Go in every possible way. I have a Go. I want a Quest.

The Oculus Go is close to a Samsung Gear/ Cardbox experience. Quest is some levels above that with better tracking and resolution. Optional you can use a link cabbe to connect it to the PC and play PC VR games with it. The link cable is USB 3, so the result is a conpromised picture quality. Yet, still the best / cheapest option to experience good wireless and PC VR.

No. I haven’t tried it.

I think my eyes aren’t going to appreciate having a screen right in front of it, and my face isn’t going to appreciate having a brick attached to it. Then, I think I’d feel too claustrophobic being so detached from your surroundings, even though I don’t suffer from claustrophobia in actual life. I don’t think I’d like not being able to see the rest of my house or interact with the people there.

Piggybacking off of this post:

The Go generally has weak graphics. Maybe PS2 level on really good games. You can look up down left and right. Your controller can only point. It has really good video resolution for a headset (actually sharper than a PSVR). I tend to stream from my PC because the 64gb storage limit fills up fast!

I tried my brother in law's Quest a couple of months ago. It pretty much does everything the Go did. I think the resolution is the same. However when it comes to games, it's much better. You can actually "draw" a play area. Within that area, you can move closer and further away from things in the virtual world (the Go is mostly stationary looking around). You can even walk around things, duck under them, etc. It also allows you to see things via the external tracking cameras. With the Go, you're blind to the world.

If you just want to watch videos, get a Go. If you also wanna play games, get a Quest. And of course neither compare to a good PC (from what I'm told).

I've always figured that i'd get motion sickness from it, so i've never tried it. I can't play games while i'm in a car or games where you fly and can turn quickly, or i get sick.
