I still do a lot of stuff on my desktop PC.

Phones just aren't same but really nice when away from home.

Using the web with a phone is a huge pain, starting with a terrible writing experience. I didn't like writing with a phone even before touchscreens (when it used to be kind of OK but still slow compared to a keyboard), but touchscreens have made it just horrible. The experience isn't too great even otherwise. Mobile browsing is my backup strategy for when I really need/want to know something and using a computer would be quite inconvenient (e.g. because one is not available). That said, laptops aren't that great either due to touchpad and small screen, but still better than a phone.

I browse primarily on Console, and used Vita up until late last year when I was away from home.

Now I use iPhone when I am out, since the Vita web browser is completely broken.

I only browse on the PC in the rare occasion that I can’t get something working on the PS4 or Xbox.

To be clear, I have keyboards for my consoles, which makes the browsing experience great. If I didn’t have a keyboard on the consoles, it would not be a great experience.

My biggest thing with using the consoles is the convenience. I am already watching or playing something on PlayStation or Xbox the major majority of the time I am in front of a screen at home. It takes nothing to hit the home button, jump to the browser, and get on VGChartz or search something on Bing or Google.

PC and it’s many browser options obviously have a massive upper hand in flexibility, but for almost everything I commonly browse PS4 and XBO do just fine.

XBO browser is more capable than the PS4 browser, but the PS4 browser is much simpler to navigate. 

It is definitely not for everyone, but it works great for me. I think next gen consoles will be even better for browsing and searching the web. I look forward to it being even more seamless to go from web, to game, to video.

I've used a track pad for many years since my table didn't work very well for the standard infrared mouse. It works and yep the buttons are awkward. I had to turn the tap on pad stuff off since it was too sensitive and had me clicking on stuff all the time when simply putting my finger back on the pad. Also the position is not as nice as with a mouse. Track pads usually sit on the middle. I used the trackpad so much on my old laptop I wore out a hole in the top layer, protective coating. So I got a laser mouse in a garage sale for a dollar and have been using that since. It works so much better and more comfortable!

Sometimes I feel like the Laptop (~1970s invention) will be like how the TV (~1920s invention) is for boomers / silent generation. The TV became more than just something to watch stuff, and isn't the only screen on the market anymore. I feel like in 20 years I will still be using a laptop computer, but it will be so much less popular due to smartphones. I got my first smartphone this year, but I barely use it due to my laptop. Some people don't own a computer and only use their phones!

You shouldn't put phones and tablets together with your complaints.

Browsing with a tablet is much more convenient on a couch than a tiny phone screen. Size matters.

Some experiences work better with a laptop, others better with a tablet. Overall it is a tie for me.

Phone browsing is basically a last resort. PC or laptop get's used 99% of the time. Back when I had a Blackberry using the phone wasn't as bad, even with the lesser screen space, but even then I'd go a little bit out of my way to use a laptop instead if I could.

Phones need Musks cyberbrain chips that can wirelessly communicate with your device and write what you think. Then and only then will phones be truly be browser competitive, even though proofreading your sent messages will more necessary than ever.

Phone browsing is mainly limited to when I'm out and about or wanna look something up quick with opening my laptop. I use my laptop for browsing about 90% of the time at least. I don't ever wanna go back to relying on something else for the majority of browsing.
