Kind of surprised that no one has talked about Skyward Sword. Everyone hates or ignores the game and yet is sitting there at 24th spot. Goes to show that, while there were a lot of amazing games this decade (a lot of them not even having 90+), getting 93+ Metascores had become increasingly harder.

I only ever got halfway through Skyward Sword. I couldn't stomach the linearity and Fi's constant handholding. It had some great dungeons, but there was just no exploration in it compared to other Zelda games. I'm sure it's a great game, so long as I don't think of it as a Zelda game. I intend to finish it one day...

Amusingly enough I planned to comment specifically on that. Skyward Sword is an 80 at best and I can't believe it made the list. On other matters, Galaxy 2 is great, but I would've placed BotW or Odyssey above it easily. Also, I think the list should've been cleaned up: using only the most highly rated version in the cases of multiple places and removing collections/remasters from contention.

Happy to see Rock Band 3 on there. Well deserved

You're going by forum goers views in general the game is quite well liked as it catapulted Hidemaro's popularity in the Zelda fanbase which helped him land the role of director for BOTW.

Right. Fujibayashi was chosen as director for BotW because of popularity.

Why else would it be?

Are you deliberately trying to be obtuse I said it helped he did Minish Cap and Oracles but never really did a mainline console Zelda game, SS had some criticisms which served as good feedback but fans liked his approach in SS as it was new for a number console Zelda fans who were used to Aonuma's approach of directing.

I have played more than 10 of those games! I'm a good gamer.

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

I just have a hard time believing that decision was driven by popularity, even partially. Skyward Sword was not praised by fans for its approach, most of the Zelda fanbase disliked the game and even critics nowadays do, as well. It's by far the most controversial 3D Zelda game, and one of the worst selling ones despite the massive user base it was on. And even then, beyond the game lacking in popularity to begin with, I just don't think it's how they do things at Nintendo - they don't do "this game was popular so you're still director", instead they choose their staff based on internal relationships. Fujibayashi has remained director most likely because Aonuma had faith in him, plain and simple.

According to whom the mob on forums who are the minority and always try to be loud? Do you not understand what the word helped means or the concept of context in it being one factor? SS is very well liked it's controversial mainly due to motion controls and requiring an add on as a game it introduced things to Zelda that helped foster features in ALBWs and BOTW as well as make the games far more alive than before, his popularity was one reason they announced him as director (something they've only really done with the Smash games with Sakurai) iat E3 when BOTW was show cased and likely was one factor in why he was picked over another young director Shikata who did a ALBW because guess what if fans like what you're doing it becomes a factor in choices for a series future.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 deserves to be top spot. One of the best games ever made. Even from an objective standpoint, there are virtually no performance issues. BoTW has some performance issues which should be taken into account.

Galaxy 2 is better than 1 in almost every way. Maybe not the "story" that was found in the first one, but from a gameplay, soundtrack, level design perspective; phenomenal.

Minor performance issues rarely put a damper on a game for me. But I do agree that Galaxy 2 deserves it's place.
