WOW.. It bested the Wii's 2008?? That's the Pokemon effect for ya, I guess. Damn. Plus obviously the cheaper Switch lite helps quite a bit.

These results were bolstered in part by the recently introduced Nintendo Switch Lite system and a variety of Black Friday offers, such as a Nintendo Switch bundle that included a full game download of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe game at no additional charge

This line right here shows how powerful Mario Kart has been and one reason why I don't think Nintendo will release a new one anytime soon. It sells so well already.

Yeah we won't see Mario Kart 9 until the Switch 2 in 2022/2023 sadly.

Look it from this perspective: This may also mean that they might make a new F-Zero title instead in the near future to fill the gap.

I've long since given up on that one. Miyamoto even suggested they'd only make one if they could think of a shitty new control gimmick to ruin it with like Starfox.

I am more of a fan of the "Excite_____" series, but I can definitely agree with this sentiment.  Putting off Mario Kart means we also get an alternative style racing game: F-Zero, Excitetruck, Diddy Kong Racing, etc....

I wouldn't mind any of these (or all of the above, to be fair) coming out on Switch. As long as there is some other racing game other than Mario Kart from Nintendo on the console, I'm good.

Why are you guys even talking about stock market here lol. Besides the top 10% own majority of the shares. Bottom 50 percent barely owns any stock and average person if they do own stock it would be through their 401ks from work. So just because stock market is up doesn't really mean shit for the average person. It isn't like they are going to take a loan out on their 401ks and buy more video game systems

It's a measure of the economy. Assumption is the stock market is a measure of the economy and that things are going well because the stock market is growing.

Think you're way over thinking it. 5 Years is normal for any long-term stock graph. Beyond that it becomes less meaningful.

Semantics, but Switch 2 wont happen till 2023/2024 based on Nintendo's own comments. I personally expect we'll see MK9 towards the end of the system's life as a way to reinvigorate sales.

I doubt it, MK has always been a 1-per-system deal and by the end of Switch's life they'd be better holding off so it can be a big killer app for the new Switch 2.

We haven't had a situation where Nintendo aggressively ports all their previous gen games to the new system. So it's hard to say what they'll do based on experience. There's no saying they can't make the game and port it later. Games still take a while so developers can't sit on their hands for too long.

I think it's value as a Switch 2 system seller would be diminished somewhat if the by-then 100 million plus Switch 1 owners could just buy it there.

Yep the economy is doing so good. That's why we are running nearly trillion dollar yearly deficits and the fed keeps lowering interest rates.  What are you going to tell me next?  Trickle down economics works.
