Forums - Sales Discussion - Global Hardware 30 November 2019 - Black Friday Week

Oh my! These Switch numbers! It is really a beast! This year totally belongs to Ninty!

I am definitely septical about the last Europe numbers...

UK makes 30% of Europe...So France is what into this ? France sells twice more Nintendo than UK and Germany. And Black Friday, Cyber Monday are also important shits in France. Don't forget that US invaded Western Europe in 1945. Not only UK is a satellite of US.

Almost making records with the same musty deals as last year and no price cut. Still think Nintendo can beat this years number, dont see it having only 1 year over 20 million units. Momentum is stronger than ever and 2020 starts with AC in the first 3 months compare to nothing until like June every other year.

I doubt we will get a price cut next year, they havent even had a standard pack in title yet and they will likely do that before cutting the price.

Next year

Switch+Smash Bros or Mario Kart-$299.99

Lite+NSMB or Mario Maker-$199.99

2021

Switch-price drop to $249.99

Lite-price drop to $169.99

I generally agree with those price cuts. But I'd expect the Lite to drop to $179.99 and them to be cut for next holiday to go against the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett.

Yeah exactly, I expect a price cut just before the other systems launch (if not sooner). A price cut + BotW2(?) would keep Switch in the gaming headlines amidst the two console launches. $250 and $180 next November makes sense to me. The fact that they have gone this long without a price cut is crazy, historically, though of course makes sense revenue wise. I don't think there's any way there won't be a price cut next year.

Yeah I fully expect next year to be even stronger. AC is a good start for the first quarter. But it really depends if they are gonna have a couple huge releases next year. I'm thinking something like 2D Mario in October and BotW 2 in November. With Bayonetta 3 and some other smaller franchises between from April to September. Throw in a price cut and I have no doubt 2020 will be an up year from 2019 and will probably end up being Switch's peak year.

Yeah it is pretty insane that Switch is still able to make these numbers without them being aggressive on pricing and bundles. A 50$ price cut is going to be huge and could put it to new highs with AC and Botw 2 or another big franchise.

Edit : Wow i also forgot about China. If the 100k preorders in couple of hours with 3 games announced thing is true it really could be a game changer you know. They were really smart to make an alliance with Tencent there and it really could be huge. I hope they are ready to mass produce. Like in all honesty Tencent is gigantic and the Chinese market is too, if done right, Nintendo could be the first one to fully blow up there (and with the help of the Switch being hybrid). My gosh they really played all their cards right this gen this is insane, like Switch could get some almost DS level highs if China works out.

Amazing Switch sales! Very strong! And PS4 was not too shabby at all.....even though i expected them tto better in Europe smh but their deals sucked. And AMAZING sales for the XB1 which has been dead pretty much all year.

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

Take a good look at that sales bar graph on the front page; barring massive adjustments, this is the last week you'll ever see Xbone over Switch.

After a 33 month chase, the Switch is moving in for the kill.

Switch is loved by all regions. Awesome sales!

Pocky Lover Boy!

Oh well, Switch sales projections for this FY are now up to 20 millions from 18 millions : https://twitter.com/mochi_wsj/status/1202365395836948482?s=20
I'm sure they can beat this number anyway with the strong interest in China and the momentum in the rest of the world is just insane going in the holidays.
