Fire Emblem is an SRPG (Strategy RPG), Pokemon is eh... maybe? But it's not a more traditional JRPG like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Persona, Chrono Trigger, Xenoblade, Kingdom Hearts etc.

I find it funny that you consider Kingdom Hearts a "Traditional" JRPG considering how much influence it draws from action and action-adventure games.

Yeah you're right tbh, it isn't really "traditional" either.

Predictions (Made July 2019)

LTD: PS4 - 130m, Switch - 110m, XBO - 52m       2019 : PS4 - 15m, Switch - 18.8m, XBO - 4.8m        2020: Switch - 22m (Peak Year)

Switch lite really screwed up my Switch prediction this year! Looks like it's going to be about 19.5m-20m for the Switch in 2019, 14.3m for PS4.

Very happy for this one. Because it could have just as well sold as 'little' as P3 and P4, which would have been fine. But I was always sure that more people would be into this series if they just gave it a chance.
I attribute much of this growth to the eye-catching presentation of the game.

I'd probably attribute a lot of it's growth to P4:Golden tbh. The vita release of Persona 4 really seemed to elevate the series in terms of how many people actually knew about it in the West. I'd never heard of Persona before it. Maybe that's just me.

But it somehow sold more on the Vita than the PS2 so I guess that shows that the franchise was definitely growing with that entry.

We did it! 3 Million copies sold! And to think the bet I made was only for 2m.

Playing it for the third time now... as happy as I am for the game, I can't help but wish it would be ported to the Switch. This game would be absolutely perfect to have on the go, there are many occasions where I feel reluctant to play it just because of how much effort it takes to boot it up only to play through a couple days of confidant relationships or whatever. It's really a shame that it has to be an exclusive... oh well. At least the game itself is awesome.

That too, yeah. May be a bit surprising due to Vita's small install base. Though on the other hand I guess the smaller library compared to PS2 also made for less competition, so P4 stood out more.
But going from (according to VGC) 1.25 to 3.2 is a huge leap still.

I'd like to see a breakdown of the official sales figures for the Persona series from Atlus though.

They did go all-in on the presentation, but Sega also marketed the hell out of it compared to previous entries (and other Atlus IPs).

Having half a dozen Persona spin-offs also helped the series visibility.

I hope this translates in more quality releases from Atlus.

Fantastic results! I'm just glad I'm not that guy that made that bet with Barkley.

Keep forgetting about this. Looking at the Wikipedia it seems they had only just started development when they announced it. They really shouldn't have announced so early.

If I remember right, they went into full development since Spring 2018. Though, the Maniac Team is substantially smaller than the one allocated to Persona so no surprise for the time it is taking.

Also, the reason the announcement was made is because it coincided with the 25th anniversary of the franchise (Even older if you wanna count the Megami Tensei games)

Only fault from them would be the staggering lack of info in the meanwhile, like there hasn't been a single teaser released since the first official trailer they posted for the game.

They even went to the official Megaten Reddit to calm down the fans that thought the game canned, lol.

Atlus/Sega have serious issues when it comes to early PR and it's bothering most peeps.
