did I miss any price announcement from Sony regarding the ps5 or are you making stuff up?

btw, psn also gets you free games every month

btw, who the hell would pay 100$ for and HDD when you're getting an M2 drive with the next console

btw, some people already have such drives at home, so it's no additional cost

btw. why not add PS Now to the list? at least it would be a 1:1 (or as close to it as possible) comparison with Stadia's offer

Price will be 500-600$ for the PS5, probably coming in two versions depending on the internal SSD size

Stadio pro also gets you free games

The internal SSD won't be 2 TB for the base PS5

Who has an empty 2 TB HDD just around?

If Sony allows free 1080p PS5 game streaming to PS4/PC, it will be a very competitive offering

a) we don't know the price, actually i would not mind an increase to the 600 tag for a premium sku, but i'm in the minority

b) cool, so you should add that cost to your comparison

c) we don't know, that spec has not been announced, but 1TB m2 drive would be fantastic, why would we need 2TB right now? Buy one in a few years when it's cheaper

d) i do, literally just around doing absolutely nothing right now. the question is, why the hell would i need it in connection to the ps5? hdds are slow as shit.

e) it's called PS Now, and it's around for a few years. you can stream or download current gen games to PS4 and PC (download obviously only on the PS4). btw it costs $60 per year and the games are free

Oo! Me me me! It's a 4tb actually, and I bought it about 18 months ago. I have so much storage laying around that I haven't needed it. Got a 256gb Sandisk and 64gb Lexar flash drives just around too.

I thought Stadia would be along the lines of the Nvidia shield. There you buy PC games, or stream the games you already own from your own PC or from the Nvidia servers. There are a chunk of games included free. In fact more than Stadia has in total.

It works nicely enough. You might have to queue to get going at peak times. But it has a large library. You also have several options, so yes you can take advantage of Steam sales. It cost the ballpark same. Playing online games, there is often much less lag than playing in pc.

There are shortfalls though on the shield. It's really awkward to run voice comms with friends. I usually have to run discord on my tablet or phone, so no headset. I have a feeling lots are using it for a cheap fortnite player so the queues have popped up lately. Some companies don't support it at all, including some big ones like EA.

So after getting good moneys worth from the Shield, I was hoping Stadia would be along the same lines, but fix lots of these problems. Good voice comms, easy partying. More game support for more Pc games. Maybe mod support too. No queues. Better overall support in general. I can't really fault the streaming, I was actually shocked how well it worked. So I knew that could work and would in the future.

So I was disappointed to say the least to see it is a limited closed shop system. It has a game price more expensive than the home consoles. At least on the consoles you see silly sales where you can get 3 of those games for the price of 1. They never go down either if google movies and music is an indicator. No support from the gaming world in general, and no target audience. I have no clue why they didn't either copy Nvidia shield or copy Gamepass/PS Now and make a Netflix style inclusive library of a choice of games.

So I expect Stadia to fail, because it's entire model screams of corporate idiocy. However streaming games does work, so I do expect it to one day be the norm. Just run much better by Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo. Maybe Geforce now will grow to cover the Pc market the same way, with Epic and Steam offering their own services in the future. Maybe Stadia will offer some of the bigger companies a streaming platform. We will see I guess. In this model I just can't see it lasting 2 years. It's crazy to see one of biggest tech giants in the world in Google getting so much wrong. They have obviously sat down with a grand plan of monetizing gaming in their favour, when they should instead of built up a world class service which could have established a loyal base, because it a great place to game.

I saw on spawnwave that the assassins creed special edition is.... 120 dollars. That's all I need to see.

I was interested in Stradia when it was announced, because I thought games would be vastly cheaper. No go for me. Might was well download on my ps4.

Just a friendly reminder that used game prices are almost always cheaper than both digital and streaming prices. Don't believe me? Check this site out!

Cheaper or not, I greatly prefer downloading games. Saves space and reduces clutter. I don't need 200 game cases laying around. Only place I am physical is the Switch, since Nintendo's digital game sharing is antiquated. I have two Switch units due to kids, had to go physical because of the limitations.

A job well done by Nintendo. If you had been left to your own choice, you'd have made the wrong one.

#physicalforever

Most people feel that way, and perhaps in their situation it makes sense.  But with kids at home, I love being digital on the ps4.  My kids can switch between games without having to get disks out.  Kids in particular are always changing up what they play.  I typically pick a game and stick with it, over the summer my kids will play 10 different games in a day.  Plus the wife is happy that the room is clean.  I am fine being 95% digital.  I haven't had any issues.

Switch is the only one of the three consoles where I'd consider going digital. After the $100 game vouchers, 5% back in gold coins, and "tax free" because you "live in Washington state" Nintendo games are a great price digitally. They are something like $45 with no tax. That's a pretty fair price for launch day of a game IMO.

I agree, it's so nice having games all on the system straight up. I still try to buy all physical where I can, because I get em for 48 new, 20% off still. For me, a console benefits less due to it being under the tv. A portable benefits nicely by having digital. I'm hoping for a 512 GB chip this holiday, my 400 is packed. Oh, and I'm in California, and dont pay tax on my digital purchases either, it was very surprising.
