Forums - Sony Discussion - I am getting a Vita

Wouldn't you want to try to get an original model Vita? The screen of the original is better. Though beyond that I'm not knowledgeable enough to know whether or not the Slim had changes that were actually improvements, like on form factor or something.

Anyway, good luck with your third attempt.

I got an original one this year and I'm starting to regret it, since I had the option to get an Slim. The Rear Touchpad is waaaaay too big, it's not confortable for me to hold it for long play sessions because of this. The screen is amazing though.

Sadly everything about it is so expensive.

The games are already rare too, at least around here, damn.

You're from Brazil, right? I got mine with an 8GB memory card, I'm trying to buy an 32GB one because the 64 ones they sell here costs twice the price I paid on mine. It's absurd, specially considering Vita's digital games on PSN are way cheaper here than the physical ones.

I heard the 64GB ones are very faulty, and the 32GB are not very reliable too.

I got a 16GB and a 4GB with my Vita (that's still to ship to me xD) and I hope that's enough.

The 64GB cards here would cost as much as a brand new PS Vita if they still sold it xP

To me that's a big problem, as I'm completely focused on physical games and even if I would accept getting the games digitally for it the amount of money spent on memory cards would be insane too haha.

I'll mostly use it for PS1 games (those I'm ok with being digital xD) and some indies crossplatforms I already have, but I really want some of those RPGs, specially the Disgaea games and Trillion, but I definitely need them to be physical xP

Since you're focusing on physical games, smaller indies and PS1 Classics, I guess 16GB is fine. Definitely go for a physical copy of those JRPGs though, since they have lots os voice clips, texts and all, so most of them are way too big to get digitally. I played both Final Fantasy X and Persona 4 Golden, and both of them are in the ~3GB mark. I would imagine the Disgaea and Trillion games are also on the +2GB mark.

And yeah, I heard some bad things about the 64GB Memory Cards ones too, it was one of the reasons I gave up buying it altogether. I couldn't justify the price and they are very faulty... like, look at this. I paid R$ 370 for my Vita, the cheaper memory card is R$ 597. I really can't justify this price lol. It's waaaaaaaay too expensive. I didn't know about the 32GB ones though I thought only the 64 ones were faulty, I'll definitely look into it.

Did the third attempt fail too?

No, I'm waiting for new ads locally. There is one good option but it is in other town 100 km away, I might go for it if nothing better comes.

I got the OG model but the screen is the only benefit it has.

The slim is lighter, has larger grips to accomodate your hand, has better battery life, comes with 1GB of internal memory (OG has none, so without a memory card you can't even save any game) and doesn't use a proprietary charger plug anymore, it also has the best overall design IMO.

The OG has the better screen and I love it looking like a psp and being all glass up front (Slim is only for the screen).

So I got the OG anyway because the OLED is so much better than the LCD screen and I love it feeling like a perfect PSP (great screen + two analogs, all the PSP needed). XD

I also have an original, went out of my way to find one about three years ago, with the grand total of one game, but yeah it is very heavy and thus uncomfortable and the rear touch pad gets in the way. If those things are addressed then that is a plus.

I enjoyed my Vita, didn't use it a ton but I don't regret buying it.

None of the 1st party games were great in my opinion, poor use of the touch and motion gimmicks. Many of the ports were underwhelming, but at the time it was an impressive portable for some home console style gaming.

In the final years, it was a great device to play some indie games on.
