Dungeons have been cut as well says Eurogamer

Around the Network

Wow, this sucks. Too many cuts to keep up with so didn't know about this.

How am I going to get the Shield exclusive Pokémon now? Literally everyone I know is getting sword.

Is this to say there is no way to trade Pokemon with people online? I would like to think that the lack of the string "GTS" appearing in game code is not enough evidence to warrant such a claim, but maybe people have done their research. What if there is a new way to network with people in game?

They used to have a way to connect online even when you were just playing the game (not trading), and by doing so you would get virtual Pokemon to roam around and give treats and stuff on the bottom screen. I liked this. Also, you could sync your achievements to the Pokemon Global website, or whatever it was called.

I still find it hard to believe that there wouldn't be a way to trade Pokemon over the net, but I really hope they have a good way to battle others. I never got into it myself, but I always liked the idea of being able to get into it if I so desired. Just because I don't use a feature doesn't mean I'm not glad it's there :P

I was right.

I think the functionality people were upset about extended beyond the ability to trade online. What people were upset about is the GTS which is the specific ability to send up a request to trade a specific Pokemon for a specific Pokemon. Other people could search trades as well putting up their own Pokemon while requesting a specific Pokemon. It made it easy to find the perfect trading match completely within the game where you could find someone that wants the specific Pokemon you want to trade while you're getting the specific Pokemon you wanted from them.

I'm still waiting for my copy (should be in today... Friggen Amazon), but from everything I've seen, this specific functionality is missing from the game.

Okay, I remember that functionality from the older games. I wasn't following the leaks too closely as I didn't want to spoil myself all that much. Bummer you still haven't gotten your copy.

Maybe you can help me with something...

On Friday, my wife and I went together to pick up our 5 year old girl from Kindergarten. We decided to get her a surprise so we took her to the store and bought her a Switch Lite (the Pokemon edition) along with the Pokemon Sw/Sh dual pack. She wanted Shield, so I'm playing on Sword. We aren't all that far into the game yet, but we did get to try the online stuff out. We set up the Lite with the same NNID as our main Switch, which doesn't seem to work as I'd hoped. We can't both connect online at the same time, as it seems you can only be connected once with a single account.

Essentially, connecting online will immediately disconnect the other Switch. We can, however, see each other in game in local play. It seems quite laggy, and more just for show, as it doesn't seem we can enter the same battles, but it's a nice feature. I was hoping we could both connect to the Internet at the same time, though. Is this what the Switch family account is for? Will my daughter be able to keep her Pokemon file when we remedy this, or will she have to start all over?

Not sure how to remedy this.
