#37 - A Dragon boy, a winged girl, and their friends, go on a journey to destroy an evil religion.

My aunt used to have this game on her Super Nintendo back in the nineties, and as a kid I briefly played it. Briefly as in, ten minutes probably though. Obviously for a kid this game was far too complicated and cryptic, so the game faded from memory for the next couple of decades. Until I got Metroid Fusion on 3DS as part of that system's so-called Ambassador Program, where early purchasers of the 3DS were gifted twenty digital retro games as a compensation for the 3DS's early and substantial pricecut. I was satisfied. It also got me curious to re-try the other big 2D Metroid game; 'Super Metroid', digitally on WiiU. The game is timeless, it's structured world is masterfully crafted. This game also came from an age when 2D sprite based sidescrollers where at their peak when gameplay and control is concerned. As a result, you forget you are holding a controller, and everything works seamlessly and intuitively. This, together with the claustrophobic mood the series is known for, the dark art direction and the atmospheric soundtrack, make this one of the most immersive games ever made.

Sometimes you're just getting in the mood to play the game you're describing right away. We have to move on though.

#36: The grand campaign lasts from 270BC to 14 AD.

I'm pretty sure this is Breath of Fire 2.

37. Ratchet and Clank 3

First Played: 2004

Times Completed: 10+

A solid evolution of the new ideas introduced in Ratchet & Clank 2. By now the platforming has been slightly overshadowed by the 3rd person shooting and level up system, but it’s so well done here that I can’t complain. Graphics, music and humour are as good as ever and there are more little extras than ever, including the return of the secret Insomniac Museum, which reveals a lot of interesting behind the scenes and cut features. This game also introduced a multiplayer mode, that I rarely played but I know some people enjoyed it.

You're right!

Let's get a few new hints going again. Let's go for five games this time.
#35:
-It's not often that you get to experience a skyscraper falling down while you're inside it.
#34
-The answer to the question "Who would win in a fight, X or Y?" in video game form, part 5.
#33
-The on-going saga of perhaps the most dysfunctional family in video game history, now with four generations of people joining the fun.
#32
-A seemingly immortal leader (but we didn't know that yet) of a terrorist group starts a war for the control of a valuable resource that came to earth from space and began making huge parts of the planet inhospitable.
#31
-Monkey and Trip

35. Uncharted 2

34. Smash Bros Ultimate

32. Command and Conquer

#37: Mario Kart 64

This game is covered in a thick layer of nostalgia for me. It takes me back to a time where I still lived at my parent's house with my brothers and we would mercilessly taunt each other as we played Mario Kart 64. We focused on the battle mode more than the Grand Prix and had a blast with it. Our favorite level was the block fort with its multiple levels that added a lot of strategy to the chaos. I of course loved the racing portion of the game as well and thanks to playing this game so much, I still tilt my stick left and right when power sliding in the more recent Mario Kart games even though I know it's not required anymore.

Signature goes here!

#36 Hint: This indie game's title sounds like a weather forecast.
