#29: Resident Evil 2 (PS1)

For those paying attention, yes I have Resident Evil 2 twice on my list. I debated having only one of them on my list but in the end they're very different experiences and they're both fantastic games. I put the original ahead of the remake because of my history with the game, I've played RE2 a lot. I've done Leon A, Claire B, then Claire A, Leon B to see the differences, I've played it enough to be able to unlock the infinite rocket launcher. The game well designed, tense, introduces my favorite Resident Evil protagonists and the scenarios for each of them are more unique than in the remake.

#28: Super Mario World (SNES)

I actually beat this game the day I got it thanks to Nintendo Power and the Star Road but I certainly didn't stop playing after one day. This game was such a joy to play, for the first time in a Mario game you could redo levels, there were secret exits, a secret world and while I know the cape is overpowered it's still so much fun to fly over everything! This game saw the addition of Yoshi which introduced something different from the power ups we were used to. My biggest wish is that Nintendo produces a new 2D Mario game for the Switch that feels as fresh as Mario World did when it came out on the SNES.

#27: Mario Kart: Double Dash

I remember reading a review of the game (from IGN I think) that said that the All-Cup Tour in double dash was too long to be enjoyable. Well, that's all me and my brother did. We'd do All Cup tour, we'd be neck and neck throughout leaving the AI players waaaaay behind in the rankings, the last few races determining the winner. It was such a great time and it helped that the game had some of the most fun tracks ever!

#26: Super Mario 3D World

A different kind of 3D Mario game and a damn good one! Instead of going for exploration, the game focuses on reaching the flagpole like in the 2D games (which prompted a lot of debate on the status of the game as a "real 3D Mario"). What amazes me about 3D World is how many different ideas it was able to cram into one game. I was used to each world being it's own thing but here every stage has its unique flavor! The game also features fun new power ups like the cat bell and the double cherry which add to the diversity! Also, the 4 player co-op mode is much more fun in a 3D space than in the New Super Mario Bros. series where it's hell trying to reach the goal with people jumping on your head.

25: Diablo III: Reaper of Souls

This game sucked when it was released. I mean the story and gameplay was fine but the end-game was terrible and that's where the Diablo experience resides for me. Thankfully Blizzard fixed their mistake and greatly improved the game over time. Still to this day, I'll start of new seasonal character or two to experiment with a class and class set I've not used yet. The hook of grinding for loot, going for more difficult rifts to improve your gems, get better drops, finding a legendary that will perfect your build is very satisfying and that is why I've spent over 500 hours.

#11 Guessed by The_Liquid_Laser: Demon's Souls

a) On the first day man was granted a soul and with it clarity.

b) On the second day upon Earth was planted an irrevocable poison…

c) … a soul devouring demon.

Yeah, the All-Cup Tour was the best thing. I played that  whenever I played this game with my cousin as well. We’d be playing all the cups anyway so might as well make a thing out of it, without having selection screens in between lol.

Duke Nukem 3D obviously.

Heh. Maybe that one would actually win in such a contest. But, while Duke Nukem’s fun, it’s not Top 50 material for me.

Hehe, it was more of a fun mention, as I didn't assume many here would even know Duke Nukem. And for me Duke Nukem is close to the TOP 50, it got to my first honorable mention 2017. In my opinion a much better old-school shooter than Doom (and people will strongly disagree with me on this).
