#15 is still unguessed, it is a famous RTS.

Age of Mythology?

I had that game myself in this list, great RTS.

Correct of course!

Your game kind of sounds like something to do with Vercingetorix errrr I mean Asterix.

Final Fantasy VII (PlayStation)

Change From Last Year: =

It's kinda funny to say that I think Final Fantasy VII is slightly overrated, while at the same time putting it in my personal top 20 games of all time, but that's just how it goes sometimes. The main reason for it is that I think there are several games in the series that are better than VII, but at the same time I think it's still an exceptional game in most regards. The story and characters are both great, the music is some of the best in video game history, and I love the subtle undertones that add so much depth to the game and its world.

The only real negative about the game are its graphics, which have naturally not aged all that well, as is the case with pretty much every early 3D video game. The English translation is a bit clumsy as well, with quite a lot of small errors throughout the game. Now I just need to wait for the remake to arrive next year.

Final Fantasy VI (SNES)

Change From Last Year: =

I'm always debating with myself whether Final Fantasy VI or VII should be higher on my list, as they are effectively tied in my mind, but I usually tend to lean towards VI in the end. I consider it the first true masterpiece in the series, with some of the most memorable and iconic moments in video game history found within. From the poisoning of Doma, to Kefka breaking the world halfway through the game, and the opera scene, there are so many awesome moments in this game, carried by some of the best characters in video game history.

It's also one of the best looking SNES games, with beautiful artwork giving the world and characters so much personality. Naturally, the game also contains some of the best music ever composed for a video game.

Correct!

Most of the people who have played it agree that it is one of the greatest games of all time.  It's just that there aren't that many of us left on the internet who even remember it.

Well, I didn't play it, but your comparison with Octopath Traveler made clear it must be one of the Ultimas (as Wizardry has a different style) and your second hint narrowed it to four. Hmm, I see Gog has Ultima IV currently for free, so I might try.

I've got to give you a warning about the PC version.  The UI on it is like an early 80's PC game.  You might be used to games like that and be ok with it, but it isn't terribly user friendly, especially by today's standards.  Also the conversations rely on finding the right keyword to get information (a lot like old text adventures).  If you are going to try to play the PC version you definitely want a manual handy plus some sort of guide for beginners so you can get used to the game.

If I were going to play this game again, I would get one of the console versions: NES or Master System.  Both are a lot more user friendly.  I would also want all of the inserts: manual and map.  Of course, these games would have significant cost, especially for a person who didn't have the hardware.  On the other hand the PC version is free.  So you kind of have to choose if you are more comfortable with paying some cash for a console version or the steep learning curve of the PC version.

I have to give that disclaimer.  The game is excellent and one-of-a-kind, but it does help to know what you are getting into.

Cool.

And yes! With only one hint, very good. It does have something to do with Asterix. Is 'Asterix' also your guess for the game's name itself, or do you feel like guessing the PC version's subtitle?

#14: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (I missed the hint the first time around because that was an easy one)

Signature goes here!

#16 - Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped (PS1): I love every Crash Bandicoot game, but the third one for PS1 is my favorite. The gameplay improved a lot, the graphics and soundtrack are great, and the variety of the levels is a lot of fun. This is a game that every Playstation lover should play.
